Dallas Cowboys at NE Patriots 1987 – YouTube

My Dad recently reminded me that we were at this game, a prime Grogan neckroll experience. I must’ve blocked out Hershel Walker tearing our hearts out in OT. Par for the course back then.

Give it up for some 70’s Patriots legends! A friend of mine was going through some of his old card collection and sent me these Patriots ones.

Boston Sports Then & Now: Grogan & Bledsoe Caught in Retired Numbers Game

December 2, 2010 by Mike Dussault

Great piece by Joe Gill and he brings up some great points. I think the Patriots really need to look into unretiring the numbers that have been retired by establishing something like the Ring of Honor mentioned in the article.

Though I’m not sure I would call it the Ring of Honor, that’s what everyone calls it. We need a Pats-centric term. Musket of Destiny? No that doesn’t really work. But that could make a good Patriots video, kinda like Three Games To Glory. Or a bad Harry Potter movie.

Patriots History Tuesdays: 1988 Patriots

In honor of the throwbacks this weekend here’s a nice recap of the 1988 Patriots who were pretty unmemorable. But this was the height of the Steve Grogan neck roll era. An era that I saw more than a few games at the old stadium. So it will always be special. This was just as the night was growing darkest for the Patriots franchise, just before Mr. Robert Kraft came to town and turned the franchise into one of the best.

Tuesday’s are usually the off days in the NFL, so today we’ll try to turn the page from the disappointing Jets loss to the Bills game with a little history lesson. Whether you’re a new Patriots fans or been with them since the early days we should all appreciate the 1976 Patriots. They will also serve as a good reminder of what real disappointment is, putting a week two loss in perspective.

If you didn’t hate the Raiders before, you surely will after watching this…

History note: Coach Chuck Fairbanks was the founding father of the 3-4 defense the Patriots play today.

2010 Patriots Defensive Snaps vs. Ravens

2010 Patriots Defensive Snaps vs. Ravens The defensive snap numbers from last season paint an interesting picture that we might be able to extrapolate from when thinking about how the Patriots defense might be put together for Sunday. Outside of Meriweather and Cunningham, every one of the defensive players that played the majority of snaps […]
