Rob Gronkowski

May 30, 2013 by Mike Dussault

It’s not a serious back surgery,” Rosenhaus told WQAM 560-AM in South Florida. “This is a new injury, and it’s minor, it’s not as significant. … I don’t think it’s a big deal, I think it’s more preventative maintenance than anything else. It’s something that, although he needs it, he’s had it for awhile and he’s been able to function.

Drew Rosenhaus downplays significance of Rob Gronkowski’s ‘lingering’ back injury – Extra Points – Boston.com

Maybe I should give Rosenhaus a full time job writing about his Pats clients here, eh? Definitely has to be taken with a grain of salt, but posting positive Patriots perspectives is what we do!

It’s another surgery for Gronk

May 29, 2013 by Mike Dussault

Per source, Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will need back surgery. Tentatively set for mid-June. He’ll likely miss at least part of camp.

— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) May 29, 2013

Seems pretty likely we won’t be seeing Gronk in early September, which will certainly make things interesting against the Bills and Jets. We’re looking at a starting Patriots offensive weapon cast of Hernandez, Amendola, Ballard, TBD (Dobson?) and Ridley.

The Blitz | Boston Herald: Sources: Optimism after Gronk’s arm surgery; back surgery may be next

It’s gonna be close…

According to a source, the surgery avenue will be explored in a month’s time as doctors will decide if a piece of disc needs to be removed. Gronkowski had an MRI performed recently due to discomfort he had been experiencing from a disc problem during the past season and beyond. Now if Gronkowski does have that surgery, the combined recovery time with the arm is roughly four months – assuming no setbacks.

Sharing thoughts on Gronkowski – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Breathe everybody, there’s still a pretty solid chance Gronk is there opening day.

While the potential back surgery is viewed as minor, it would still be surgery, and if that’s the way it unfolds, that will be five surgeries for Gronkowski since November (four on his left forearm, one on his back). That represents a lot of stress on Gronkowski’s temple in a short period of time. Yet if things go according to plan, Gronkowski wouldn’t miss any regular-season games if he has to undergo back surgery. So while it would be easy to go all gloom-and-doom, that’s not the sense I get from some folks close to the situation.
