Steelers Chalk Talk: Breakdown of Patriots Game

Steelers Chalk Talk: Breakdown of Patriots Game

There aren’t many things in life better than watching an opposing teams TV crew break down your team killing their team. The accents are especially fun with this one (who’s Bohnta-Cain), but they do a good job showing Tom Brady’s virtuosity.

Notes on an Elite Win: Patriots Progress vs. Steelers

November 15, 2010 by Mike Dussault

Wow, I’m enjoying this one today. Of course the thought of Peyton Manning and the Colts coming back to Foxboro for the first time since 2006 is hard to ignore.

Some quick notes on the Pats win over the Steelers…

If we throw out the fourth quarter, when the Steelers were going no huddle and the Pats were in prevent, the Patriots defense had it’s most impressive day of the year. Of course that fourth quarter will skew the stats a bit and that’s okay, just more ammo for Belichick this week while preparing for the Colts.

It’s pretty clear that Patchung! is becoming the catalyst for the secondary. He did have some cramping last night, it wasn’t the knee injury acting up again. I expect he should be good to go for the Colts game barring any set backs.

I wouldn’t read too much into Aaron Hernandez not seeing much play time last night. Rob Gronkowski was the better matchup against the big physical Steelers.

Lawfirm gets the yards we need when we need them. It’s not flashy, but he gets the job done. And he got it done against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

Looks like Deion Branch is finally over his hamstring issues. Brady spread the ball around to all his receivers. This is a difficult offense to stop now. Before, what Randy Moss could/would do was a given. Now there really are no givens.

Offensive line deserves some major props. Not many teams can go into Pittsburgh and keep their QB clean. Let’s remember this when people start bashing Matt Light.

It’s easy to let Tom Brady go unappreciated, he’s been playing well for so long, but last night was vintage TB12.

What a job by the defensive line and linebackers as well. They dominated the line of scrimmage all day and held Rashard Mendenhall to just 50 yards. 34 of which  came on one carry. Take that one out and he had 10 carries for 16 yards. Domination.

5 sacks. Not bad for a team that can’t rush the passer. My boy Crazy Legs Crable got his first half sack of the season. What what!

Forgive me for posting some Steerlers propaganda but you really need to appreciate one of the scariest monsters ever to play: Jack Lambert.

CHFF: Patriots vs. Steelers Game of the Week

CHFF: Patriots vs. Steelers Game of the Week

Yup, they’re picking the Steelers too. The Power of Hoodie compels me to mention this…

The Patriots this year allow opposing passers to complete 70.17 percent of their attempts. How inept is that effort? In the entire history of the NFL, only one other team has allowed opposing passers to complete more than 70 percent of their passes over the course of an entire season: the 2007 Lions (70.20).
