Football Diner: Gary Guyton Interview

Football Diner: Gary Guyton Interview

Good stuff with Gary. When used correctly (as a sub package, coverage/blitzing linebacker) he makes plays, but he just doesn’t have the downhill physical inside presence that Brandon Spikes has to stop the run.

Sometimes I feel like Guyton is the antithesis to the days of the “old and slow” Patriots defense. I wonder in 2011 if Dane Fletcher could push him for this role, but either way these are two undrafted guys who look like they will develop into solid players.

Mangini on how to beat the Patriots (written edition)

Some really interesting stuff in here, but the biggest thing revealed to me… it’s ROLE-based defense. Not rule-based.

Ernie Adams: The man behind the man in New England

In case anyone is unfamiliar with Ernie Adams of the Patriots please please please check out this link. If you thought BB was the only genius in New England you were wrong.

I also think I might be the only person in the world to have his autograph.

You think this Raiders game he’ll be experimenting with more OL schemes? Also do we see James White Sunday?

I think it depends entirely on whether or not Wendell is healthy. If he is, I think we’ll see him in there a bit, rotating with Connolly at center, who’d slide over to right guard and send Devey to the sideline. Of course, personally I’d love to see Stork get in there more. I really […]
