The (2nd) Greatest Kick in NFL History…

And it just popped up in beautiful quality on Youtube.

Mike D. note: good point by readers, this is probably the second greatest kick compared to the one that forced OT. I got a little carried away by the quality of the video.

Ian Logue/PatsFans: Patriots Mankins Hurt Players Stance With Holdout

Interesting stuff here from Ian. Something tells me Mankins doesn’t really understand all this legal back and forth, but I’m sure being used as a pawn will just piss him off even more and make him a better guard for the Pats whenever the season starts.

This might be an obscure reference but it reminds me of how in One Crazy Summer the guys get Bobcat Goldthwait all fired up to row faster and faster by making up things their enemies said about his favorite wrestler Mr. Congeniality.

Go to :58 below to see what I’m talking about. And by the way this part of the movie was shot at Sesuit Harbor in East Dennis on Cape Cod, the harbor I spent summers in as a kid. The boat they’re driving sat dying in the harbor junk yard for about five years after this was shot.

Anyway, the Patriots should continue similar tactics with Mankins.

Brady to Branch vs. Lions. Is it just me or does it feel like it’s gonna be a long time before we see an NFL football game again?

NFP: Patriots Draft Review

NFP gets it, though I highly doubt Matt Light is moving inside to Guard…

Let’s face it, Bill Belichick has built one of the best if not the best football operations departments in the league. He knows how to work a draft better than anyone and because of this he has multiple high picks every year. He did it again this year when he traded the No. 28 selection in this draft for New Orleans’ No. 56 selection and their first-round pick in next year’s draft . He also made a trade with the Raiders getting their second-round pick next year. So not only did the Pats get a bunch of good players this year, they also have two firsts and two seconds next year.

The Law Firm on ESPN First Take

We haven’t heard too much from Benny over the years but every time I do I like him more and more. What a consummate Patriots, huh? The kind of guy you’d go to war with any day of the week.

Not many football players have the mental and physical drive to work from an undrafted free agent to a 1000-yard running back in three seasons. Most of us thought of him as just a stop-gap at first, but clearly he has gotten better and better and we should expect an even better season in 2011.

I’m still wondering why we didn’t see more of him in the playoff loss.

The guy that stands out to me [as a comparison] when it comes to style of play is Marshall Faulk. He can run between the tackles and be physical inside. He has the ability to pass-protect on third down. He can catch the ball as a wide receiver, or coming out of the backfield. He can be an every-down guy and is the type of player who is going to rise to the occasion with the opportunity to compete. He has that competitive spirit. He’s already a talented young man, but the thing that separates him from a lot of guys is his work ethic and that he’s smart. He understands football, so he’ll adjust to things because of his football IQ.

(no title)

He doesn’t have a lot of flash to his game, but Harrison displays all the qualities you want from a big-bodied outside receiver. He’s got deceptive short-area quickness, he runs comeback routes to a tee, he uses his wingspan to his advantage, and he also has the presence of mind to work the sideline. He […]
