Jeffery Demps scouting report | National Football Post

Jeffery Demps scouting report | National Football Post

At his best pressing the edge and playing in space. Is a homerun threat every time he touches the football. Exhibits impressive balance laterally and routinely outpaces angles at the second level. Has elite cutting ability even at full speed. Makes defenders think he’s going to initially outpace them outside only to stick his foot in the ground and leave them in the dust. Does a great job sinking his hips and making himself small when changing directions, really generating a burst out of his breaks. Keeps his pad level down for the most part when running inside, just lacks the kind of natural size/power to create through contact. Will lower his head and run behind his pads when asked to finish, but doesn’t have the frame to wear down opposing defenses and is at his best when his touches are limited. Is comfortable in the screen game and handling the football while running the option. Catches the football when open, but struggles in traffic at times. Developing as a route runner, however at this stage would rather just run away from defenders. But if you play him in the slot with a two way go he’s going to be impossible to keep pace with even at the next level. Is a tough kid as well who has played special team, not only as a dynamic kick return option but has also blocked a punt.

At one point, the offense was so bad that Jerod Mayo openly mocked them by asking for the punt team on third down. Later, Brady – who was 13 of 23 with five sacks in team periods – just shrugged at offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Look, in the long term we’re still operating under the assumption that Vollmer and Waters are back and all these offensive line problems will be things of the past. So let’s just spin this positively and say…

LOOK OUT NOW, THE PATRIOTS DEFENSE IS GETTING SOME SWAGGER!

Camp Observations: Day 22 – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Pointing out a couple guys who haven’t gotten much mention around these parts:

Continue to notice a quick first step from defensive tackle Marcus Harrison, which helped him win in a couple of 1-on-1 situations.

Marcus Forston, the undrafted rookie defensive lineman from Miami, had a massive backfield stuff of his own.

Between these two guys and Justin Francis I think we’ll see at least one of them make the roster.

Tweets of note from Thursday’s Patriots practice

August 16, 2012 by Mike Dussault

Been covering #Patriots for about 10 years. Can’t remember a more feisty camp than this one. Interesting.

— Christopher Price (@cpriceNFL) August 16, 2012

Over the last few days, have noticed safety Nate Ebner getting some more quality defensive reps with more experienced players.

— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) August 16, 2012

Pats practice notes: Tavon Wilson, Stevan Ridley leave early with injuries, Gaffney held out, Edelman & Koutovides ejected by Belichick.

— Field Yates (@FieldYates) August 16, 2012

Belichick kicks Edelman and Koutouvides out of practice for exchanging face pushes after a punt. Can’t ever remember BB doing that before.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) August 16, 2012

First- and second-teams combine to allow three sacks in six plays. Hello? Is anyone going to block anybody?
