Really good read on Jordan Richards. I’m very curious how he contributes this year. There are plenty of safeties on the roster, but he’s already showing good anticipation in his first two preseason contests. We could be a Patrick Chung injury from Richards playing a big role on defense.

That’s Jordan Richards covering Gronk and although the pass is completed, Richards does it about as well as you could hope, especially for a rookie, not to mention one that allegedly shouldn’t have been drafted as high as he was. Gronk’s gonna Gronk, but nice effort by Richards.

In a system like the one in New England that will put stress on safeties and their abilities to make the right call at the right time, you just can’t go out and find guys like Jordan. You just can’t find guys like that who make plays like that and have that decision-making ability like he has.

Richards is a team leader and warrior on the field. Very coachable prospect that loves the game and plays with a passion. He is very tough and extremely competitive. Very effective against the run, but plays ball very well. He shows up in all facets of the game. Overall he looks pretty fluid and athletic. He has good agility and gets his hands on a lot of passes (21 PBUs over his career) but must do a better job of fighting through blocks and making reliable tackles in the open field to overcome his lack of ideal size.
