dominique easley

August 18, 2014 by Mike Dussault

[T]he Patriots welcomed first-round pick Dominique Easley to 11-on-11 work in full pads for the first time all summer. It appeared that Easley was working with a reasonable facsimile of the second-team defense. He looked very good — quick, without any issues when it came to bursting and changing direction. On his first rush, he flew past center Ryan Wendell, and beat guard Dan Connolly on his second rush. He also flashed an impressive spin move on the following play. An interesting debut for the youngster, who might be on track to get some live snaps this week against the Panthers.

Tweets of Note from the Final Patriots Training Camp Practice

August 18, 2014 by Mike Dussault

Had to share these two tweets because both are very positive and just what the team needs.

Easley’s 1st rush blazed by C Ryan Wendell’s inside shoulder; 2nd rush beats G Dan Connolly to outside; 3rd rush a dynamic sudden spin move.

Obviously for anyone who’s been around since the spring, you know that tweet falls right into my sweet spot.

Good news on all the injury returns. Some of these guys are still limited but if they can at least get some snaps in the final preseason game it will be a big positive.

Patriots Sign First-Round Pick Easley

June 23, 2014 by Mike Dussault

Love the no-drama rookie contract situations now.

#Patriots 1st round DL Dominique Easley signed a 4-year, $7.3M contract with a $3.63M signing bonus, source said. 80% of it is guaranteed.

Man, the #74 is still killing me on Easley, but something tells me that once he gets an actual jersey it’s going to work. (via Patriots Mini-Camp – June 19, 2014)

Dominique Easley appeared at OTAs today and Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald got some video of it. Looks to like the ACL isn’t going to keep him back too long. Really can’t contain my excitement about what this guy could bring to the defense.

What makes Easley special? As Belichick said, he plays multiple defensive line positions at a ridiculously high level. And for a defensive mind such as Belichick’s, he’s a perfect cog in a lot of ways.

You’ve been around the guys who have it, and this guy has it,” Quinn said. “Two, he really has some unique skills because of that unique quickness that he has. I think when you combine those two things — mentally strong and tough, and then add the initial quickness part of it — I think he’ll find his own role how he can help the team. I think once that starts to work itself out and when he gets healthy, he’ll be rolling.

Injuries Strike Pats Just After They Clicked

We’re all sick of hearing it but here it is again “injuries are the only thing that stand between the Patriots and Super Bowls at this point in the Belichick/Brady dynasty.” You either get years where they stay almost entirely healthy — 2014/2016 (with a notable exception or two like Gronk last year), or 2013/2015 […]
