Now this is perfect coverage. In phase, looking back for the ball. This Darrelle Revis guy might be pretty good for us…

Revis is a good player and I’m glad we have him,” he said. “We’ll keep working with him. There is still a lot for him to learn in a new system and all that. But he’s a very experienced and accomplished player and we’ll just try to fit him in to the things we’re doing, both individually and collectively and his other teammates in the secondary, especially once we get into multiple defensive back groups – with five, six, however many are on the field at the same time, there is a lot of communication and adjustments and things like that involved too. He’s worked hard and done fine.

Patriots – Let Revis Be Revis: Can CB be most impactful free agent defensive pickup of Belichick Era? – WEEI | Christopher Price

Good read from Christopher Price. I’m just going to try and enjoy this year because who knows what happens next year with Revis. It’s exciting but at the same time it’s kind of like a Game of Thrones character, it’s wise not to get too attached to anyone.

I feel that he’s gonna bring something totally different to the table that the Patriots secondary hasn’t seen in a long time. He has that type of gift. He can cut off one side of the field and make everyone around him better. He’s hungry to be the best, and he is the best right now.

The reason why we were so successful was because we had guys in the secondary that could cover. … It gives you flexibility, it gives you versatility in your secondary to do so many different things to disguise, to play different coverages. … That’s all Bill Belichick wants. He wants versatility and wants the ability to play more man-to-man coverage and go after the quarterback and hit him in his mouth.

Rob Gronkowski may be the most indispensable non-quarterback in football. With him on the field, the Patriots offense has been dominant since the second half of the 2010 season. Without him, the offense has sometimes stagnated. This season, slowing Gronkowski down and slowing the Patriots offense down have been basically the same thing. […] If […]
