A Real Live Super Bears Fan With Some Patriots Hate

December 10, 2010 by Mike Dussault

If you’re like me you might having a hard time really getting fired up for the Bears this weekend. It’s understandable after we’ve just recently played the Jets, Colts and Steelers, the unholy trinity of Patriots rivals.

Most of us still don’t harbor a lot of hate from the Super Bowl in 1986 (though some of us definitely do) so there just isn’t a whole lot of “I want to whup the Bears’ ass” fire burning in our bellies. Especially coming off a thrashing of the Jets.

Well today I came across this Bears fan vidcast and it got me fired up, if for nothing else than wanting to see this overconfident living stereotype eat some crow.

I have to warn you, he starts off with a nice dose of spygate nonsense, before tearing into the lack of Patriots fans on Youtube. Youtube? I didn’t realize the true sign of a passionate fan base was having a lot of people who make prediction videos.

You can talk about spygate all you want buddy, but that’s really not going to help your boys on Sunday. These Patriots are 10-2, and have beaten an array of quality teams the likes of which the Bears haven’t beaten since the 80s.

The thing I don’t get is how is this guy so confident about the Bears? Does Jay Cutler hand out smug douchebag pills to the fanbase of whatever team he plays for?

‘The Bears have played better offenses and already beaten them’? Um, sorry dude, they haven’t.

And why does everyone keep talking about this shitty field in Chicago like it’s going to be the ultimate deciding factor? You know who else has a shitty field? Pittsburgh. And that did little to slow down the Patriots offense.

But it’s going to be cold! I think we already mentioned in a previous post that Tom Brady is the best quarterback of all time in cold weather.

So I know the Bears and their fans are all cocky because they beat the Eagles. Hooray! But they’re actually just 2-1 against quality teams, and are even being outscored on average against those quality teams.

Look, the Bears are pretty good and had a nice little run after their bye week. But it’s all going to come crashing down on Sunday, and when they’re watching Green Bay take the division title we’ll be able to point to this loss against the Pats as when it all fell apart for them.

So here’s the video, watch it if you want to get upset…

Also check out NEgoBrach28’s channel on Youtube, she got called out by the guy but made a nice response.

I cannot confirm or deny that this guy was the original inspiration for the video below…

SI/CHFF Preview Pats- Bears

December 10, 2010 by Mike Dussault

SI/CHFF Preview Pats- Bears

This is pretty much the only preview you need to read for this big game. Here’s an interesting key to the game:

Brady is the best cold-weather quarterback in history (since 1960), with a remarkable 18-2 (.900) career record in games played in snow, ice or below freezing temperatures.

Some other notable cold-weather champions? Green Bay Hall of Famer Bart Starr, hero of the Ice Bowl, was 15-4; Pittsburgh’s legendary big-game gunslinger Terry Bradshaw was 14-4.

Brady’s greatest cold-weather performance came in the 2004 AFC title game at Pittsburgh. It was the coldest game in Heinz Field history (-1 wind chill) and the Steelers possessed the league’s stingiest scoring defense. Brady was near flawless (130.5 rating) as the Patriots won, 41-27.

There were steady winds last week at Foxboro and a wind chill of 15 degrees. Again, Brady (148.9 rating) and the New England offense were virtually flawless, dropping 45 large on a tough Jets defense.

The Patriots will face a 4-3 base defense for just the 5th time this season when they play the Bears. The Pats average 35.5 points against the 4-3, and 29.6 points against the 3-4.

“Skin The Bears” New England Patriots Fight Song Music Video (1986)

December 9, 2010 by Mike Dussault

Holy Hoodie how have I never seen this video?! I think it might set the world record for stiff white guys trying to sing/have rhythm. You’ll probably notice Bob Lobel all over the place in this video. I’m not sure who the band is but clearly for 1986 they were trying to be on the cutting edge of the hair band movement, now it’s crazy insane how dated it looks.

The good thing is that I can promise this song WILL NOT be stuck in your head the rest of the day. In fact it will be out of your head by the time you finish the video… IF you make it through the whole thing… and that’s a big if.

Chicago Sun Times: Good Belichick – Martz Article

Pretty safe to assume it’s going to be bombs away for the Bears offense on Sunday. Or as BB said before facing the Martz-led Lions offense in 2006 “they’re probably loosening up (the quarterback’s) arm now”.

With yet another injury in Easley, do you think we see jones, ninkovich and sheard on the field together more

We’ve seen plenty of them together this year so not much will change in that regard, but we will see more Akiem Hicks in Easley’s role as an interior rusher who played about 30% of the snaps.  As disappointed as I am to lose Easley so close to the playoffs, I’m excited to see them […]
