Spikes is a beast. No, let me put it this way – Spikes is a monster. Offensive players are going to watch film of him and opposing RBs are going to be looking to find him before every snap because they’re not going to want any of that.

I almost see him as a combination of Ted Johnson and Rodney Harrison. He brings the intensity of Rodney Harrison. He’ll talk trash in your face, knock you on the ground and let you know about. But he brings the wood like Ted Johnson. That’s a dangerous combination.

I love being on the team with Brandon Spikes. What he does for our defense, and creating fumbles and really the hard-hitting presence that he is in the middle of the field,” Brady said today on WEEI’s Dennis & Callahan. “Brandon brings that physical element. To knock the ball off (C.J.) Spiller like he did was awesome. And that play he made against Arizona where he knocked the fumble off of (Ryan Williams) was one of the best plays I’ve ever seen anyone make.

The Patriots forced six turnovers, and linebacker Brandon Spikes, in particular, was a thumping force with two forced fumbles. Spikes’ forced fumble at the end of the second quarter saved a possible half-ending Bills touchdown as the Patriots recovered. The turnovers: Spikes’ two forced fumbles, Devin McCourty’s two interceptions, Jerod Mayo’s interception on a tipped pass by Vince Wilfork, and safety Tavon Wilson’s pick late in the fourth.

Usually it’s tough to pick a Patriots player of the week after a loss but this week it’s pretty easy. Brandon Spikes was a force all over the field on Sunday, with 7 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 2 QB hits, and a huge forced fumble that should’ve stolen an impossible victory for the Patriots.

We don’t want to get too high on the defense since it’s not like Arizona had a plethora of weapons to deal with, but Spikes led the way for an aggressive front seven that forced the Cardinals to earn every yard.

Spikes: ‘Defense showing signs of being great’

I don’t know how long this trio will be together but they really have a chance to be special. Such an outstanding combination of speed, aggression, and physicality.

“We’re all SEC linebackers and we know we’re really physical and we’re athletic too,” said Spikes when asked about the relationship between the three players. “Jerod can do it all, Hightower can do it all, I’m just a guy. I do my job. It’s fun to have those guys around. As far as Jerod, he’s a savvy vet, he does it the right way and I try to follow in his footsteps.”

Talib has the talent to be shutdown CB – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston What makes Talib a capable “play on an island” cornerback is that he has the build, athleticism, and instincts to lock down an opponent without safety help. He’s fast enough to run with linear threats and has a loose […]
