Brandon Browner signs 3-year deal with Patriots

March 14, 2014 by Mike Dussault

It’s finally official!

Between Revis and Browner, it’s hard to remember a more exciting time in the Patriots secondary. Who knows how it will all come together, with Browner out the first four games, serving his suspension, but after that the Pats have incredible versatility and depth in their secondary now and have the ability to matchup with any offense.

The days of having only cornerbacks under 5’10" are over!

Filed to ESPN: CB Brandon Browner told me he’s agreed to join the Patriots. “I’m taking a 3-year deal to play for New England.”

Browner has a really intriguing skill set in that he’s a bigger corner who might be able to transition to strong safety in the New England defensive system. He played some safety when he first came into the league (before making a name for himself in the CFL), so that possibility does exist.

If the Pats can add Browner as well, holy guacamole, this would be the most impressive secondary they’ve fielded (on paper) since 2004, easily. Maybe ever.

Dont’a Hightower was the Pats’ best defensive player with a fumble recovery, three quarterback hits, four pressures and two run stuffs for no gain. He is the first Patriot this season to be in on 10 plays in pressure and run-stuff stats. Hightower also levied a huge hit on Eric Decker when he caught a […]
