Robert Kraft Press Conference Transcript

July 29, 2015 by Mike Dussault

Robert Kraft Press Conference Transcript

Having a hard time pulling just one quote from this whole thing, so if you didn’t hear it live you definitely have to go read it. Patriots fans felt abandoned by Mr. Kraft when he accepted the team punishment, but personally I understood why he did it. Unfortunately I think he realized too late what we all knew, that this was never solely about deflated footballs, this was about a chance to pin something on the Patriots.

I’ve seen plenty of tweets out there from national pundits not understanding how it’s good for the NFL to take down one of their biggest players. But there are plenty of people inside the NFL office, Mike Kensil being a prime example, who would love nothing more than to see the Patriots knocked down a peg.

The false leaks that Mr. Kraft brought up today are another example that there are forces driving this story with an anti-Patriots agenda.

The media landscape, filled with former playes and executives who were handed defeat at the hands of Brady and Belichick are only too happy to cast a critical eye solely on the Patriots. They take the bait at every turn and yesterday’s “destroyed his phone” is a prime example.

How many phones have you “destroyed” in your life? Words are powerful and “destroyed” is a loaded word and it framed the final piece of circumstantial evidence meant to bury the Pats.

So now it’s on. Kraft is back in our corner and that’s a powerful force to have because he carries weight where it counts most – with the other owners. I don’t know how it will play out, but it would appear this might be a defining moment for the National Football League. And all over some footballs that may or may not have been deflated.

I know the game was roughly a month ago, but I don’t understand why people said that the final Ravens touchdown of the first half was solely on Brady. First of all, the Pats were at their own 35 yard line when Brady threw the INT (thus, they weren’t even in FG range). Secondly, the defense played like crap on the ensuing drive (they allowed BALT to move 57 yds down the field with ease), and Revis got a BS pass interference called on him. That TD was definitely NOT all on Brady (just partially).

Well yeah, it’s football, rarely is anything solely one person’s fault. Brady gets a big chunk of the blame because given the situation, with just over a minute left before the half, the absolute last thing you can afford to do there is turn the ball over. And it wasn’t even just a physical mistake […]
