Patriots moving on to the AFC Championship!

Great win! There were some good moments and some bad ones, but a win is a win especially in the playoffs.

Was extremely impressed with the defense. They had their few brain farts but overall a playoff-worthy performance. They held Houston to 4-15 on third down and that was the difference early.

Offensively Shane Vereen really stepped up, and Stevan Ridley got a late start but still grinded out 82 yards on the ground.

Wes Welker had 8-catches for 131 yards, four of them came on third down and Welker played his best playoff game to date as a Patriot.

Gronk is done for the season but at least the Pats already have practice getting by without him. Certainly will make things harder for them against the Ravens, but they have enough weapons to get by as we saw against the Texans.

Should be a word war next weekend in Foxboro!

The Patriots had a lot of conversations with teams about moving up in the draft but it didn’t pan out. It’s not known who they were targeting, though Missouri LB Aldon Smith was high on their board and would have been a consideration but he went higher (7th to 49ers) than most imagined. Greg Bedard
