Patriots Lead the Super Bowl Betting Chart

September 11, 2016 by Florence Marceau

This season’s Super Bowl betting public are putting their money on the Green Bay Packers, though it needs to be mentioned that the hot favorite team of the season’s Super Bowl is New England Patriots as mentioned in the Las Vegas sportsbooks. Tom Brady, the New England quarterback won’t play the upcoming four matches for his link to the Deflategate. Yet, according to the NFL betting lines, New England has been leading the money race, as people do are putting their money believing that the Patriots will win this year.
Though a large number of the bet has been placed on the Green Bay Packers too, and they are supposedly the second favorite team for the betting public and is also among the second tier of Super Bowl teams by being at 8-1. The funny thing is, both William Hill’s Nevada book, as well as Westgate Superbook has received more bets on the Green Bay than the New England Packers. Besides, Green Bay Packers, few other teams that are present in the second tier of Super Bowl favorites are – The Seattle Seahawks (8-1) , Arizona Cardinals (8-1), Pittsburgh Steelers (10-1), Carolina Panthers (12-1) and lastly previous year’s defending champion Denver Broncos (25-1).

In spite of the federal court supporting the NFL and restoring Brady’s suspensions for the upcoming matches, the Patriots, around mid-June emerged as the Super Bowl favorite. Not only that, they even opened the season as underdogs in Arizona for the first time in 11 long years.
On the other hand, the Minnesota Vikings quickly fell down the list after they lost their quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a serious knee injury, which will prevent him from playing this season. The Superbook moved the Minnesota s Super Bowl chances from 20-1 to 30-1, though after they signed Sam Bradford from the Philadelphia Eagles, their position was restored.
Even the Dallas Cowboys, a popular bet in the preseason went down the list as their quarterback was lost too. That loss was quite a big setback. Tony Romo, who missed a lot of matches in the previous season because of his back injury, was hurt during the preseasons, and will be missing several weeks. Before Romo’s injury, the Dallas Cowboys were on the second tier list at 16-1 , but with the injury, the team dropped down to 25-1. Before Dallas’s mishap and Romo’s injury, William Hill Nevada’s book took $20,000 on the Cowboys with a claim that they will win the Super Bowl at odds of 15-1.
So, technically the Patriots, Packers, Steelers and Seahawks are the teams that have attracted the betting audience. And as per the money wagered at the Westgate SuperBook, the top five teams to win the Super Bowl are – 1.Patriots, 2.Packers, 3.Cardinals, 4.Seahawks and 5.Indianapolis Colts.
Other teams like the Houston Texans, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers saw their chances improving during the offseason, but with time, and with the preseason and the main season approaching they lost it big time in the SuperBooks.
