With two weeks down in the preseason it’s time to take another stab at a 53-man roster projection. Changes from the last projection are noted below.
QB (2) T.Brady, B.Hoyer – No change.
RB (5) J.White, J.Hill, R.Burkhead, S.Michel, J.Develin – No change.
WR (5) C.Hogan, P.Dorsett, C.Patterson, K.Britt, M.Slater – No change. Still believing that Britt emerges and becomes a factor. Well, praying for it.
TE (3) R.Gronkowski, D.Allen, J.Hollister – No change. Solid group, excited to see Hollister get some real game action.
C (1) D.Andrews
G (3) S.Mason, J.Thuney, T.Karras
T (3) T.Brown, M.Cannon, L.Waddle – Wynn is out and I didn’t replace him with Croston as many are doing. He’s still PS eligible and I needed the spot.
DE (4) T.Flowers, A.Clayborn, D.Wise, D.Rivers – No change. Really excited to see how this group progresses, Wise and Rivers give real hope for the future and could change the perspective that the Pats don’t have any good young guys on the roster.
DT (5) M.Brown, D.Shelton, L.Guy, V.Valentine, A.Butler: No change. Really want to make sure we hang on to Valentine with Brown and Shelton due to hit free agency next year. I love how he plays.
ILB(3) E.Roberts, J.Bentley, N.Grigsby: Bentley in for Sam as I totally whiffed on Bentley in training camp. He’s the most exciting revelation of the summer. Grigsby is a special teamer.
OLB(4) K.VanNoy, D.Hightower, B.King, M.Flowers: No change. Praying Hightower’s got a full season in him. If he does the defense will be really good.
CB (6) S.Gilmore, E.Rowe, J.McCourty, D.Dawson, J.Jones, C.Jones: Jackson out, the Joneses in. Cyrus is my biggest leap in this projection but I believe he’ll return punts this week against Carolina and leave McCarron in the dust. Wish we could keep Jackson but I think he’s under the radar enough to make it to the practice squad.
SS (4) P.Chung, J.Richards, N.Ebner, E.Pleasant: No change. Richards, Ebner and Pleasant are special teamers.
FS (2) D.McCourty, D.Harmon: No change.
ST (3) S.Gostkowski, R.Allen, J.Cardona: No change.
PS Priorities: JC Jackson, Cole Croston, Christian Sam
Cut and Re-Sign: Brandon Bolden, Geneo Grissom
Suspended: Julian Edelman
