Ultimately, all of what has transpired to this point in the season is all prologue for the next step in the process, which will start after the bye: getting yourself into position to be in position to make a run. To that end, the Patriots have done as well as could be expected. They’ll go into the bye at 7-2, and firmly in control of their division. They’re only one of four teams in the AFC with two losses or less. And if the playoffs began today, they’d have a first-round bye and home field for a divisional playoff game.

Steelers vs. Patriots: Takeaways from New England’s 55-31 Win over Pittsburgh

My takeaways…

The New England Patriots put together their most impressive performance of the season on Sunday, dispatching the Pittsburgh Steelers, 55-31, and heading into their bye week at 7-2.

After questions about Tom Brady’s play were fodder for talk radio and sports pundits all week, Brady put together a vintage performance and silenced the doubters with 432 yards passing. He looked cool and calm in the pocket and shredded the Pittsburgh defense with throws both long and short.

But Brady’s superb day wasn’t the only highlight of the day, as the Patriots defense continued to weather injuries and come through with the clutch stops when the team needed them.

Here are all the takeaways from the best Patriots win of the season.

I know Bill Belichick. He’s a built a young team, an aggressive team, a smart team, a team with depth and a team with a great quarterback. So they’re going to be fine. They’re going to be right back in the hunt this year. Rodney Harrison Believes Peyton Manning Will Not Lead Denver Broncos to […]
