Temperatures are expected to be in the teens at night, with winds possibly gusting around 20 miles per hour. ESPN’s statistical database goes back to 2001 and computes that Manning is 2-5 in games when the temperature is 32 degrees or lower at kickoff (including playoffs), with six touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Add in three more sub-32-degree games from the 1998-2000 seasons, and Manning is 3-7 lifetime in those situations, with 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

When it comes to defending the receivers, a lot of it depends on the health of New England’s defensive backs, but if the Patriots have the full collection of starters on the field, look for lots of physicality, lots of rerouting and lots of man coverage when it comes to slowing down their pass catchers. While it will no means be exclusive throughout the evening, the Aqib Talib-Demaryius Thomas should be a good one.

No team has more sacks in the past five games than the Patriots, both in raw tally (18) and ratio (one sack every 9.39 pass plays, well above the league average of one every 14.86 pass plays). It must be noted that their four opponents in that span – the Jets, Dolphins, Steelers and Panthers – are all among the league’s most sack-prone teams; they are four of the seven clubs to allow a sack more often than once every 12 pass plays. But Broncos Offensive Coordinator Adam Gase sees the Patriots’ recent pass-rushing form as a testament to their strengths, rather than their foes’ weaknesses.
“It’s probably more what they’re doing defensively. Their edge rushers don’t get the (publicity) a lot that these other guys get but they do a great job,“ said Gase.

If an impact DE was available in the draft or free agency do you think the patriots would take that person and move nikovich to LB
Nah, I think they’re pretty set with Ninkovich and Jones as their edge players, whether they’re playing OLB or DE, which is really just semantics. They could use some depth though at DE, curious to see if Buchanan works his way back into some pass rushing chances.
