Getting open hasn’t been a problem for Gronkowski. In six games since returning to action, the tight end has caught 37 passes for 560 yards with four touchdowns. Extrapolated, Gronkowski’s current pace would put him at 98 catches, 1,488 yards and 11 touchdowns over 16 games.

“You’ve got to give him different looks,” Horton said. “You’ve got to pressure him. You have to play at your best because I’m pretty sure he’s going to prepare; he won’t take any game, an opponent lightly. “It’s an ultimate test for me as a coordinator, this one player. I think he’s everything you want in a franchise quarterback.”

Tedy Bruschi’s defensive index – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston
Love this new Bruschi defensive index, really another quality ranking system like DVOA that goes beyond simple yardage allowed.
Pats are down to 20th, 3rd downs are their trouble spot (30th). Red Zone is below average as well (20th).
That’s a good question. Wendell is in a contract year. He was a little bumpy at the start but overall I think he’s a solid B+ center who has the right playing temperament. I think they should probably be able to work something out with him because it’s unlikely the market will bear out much better than what the Pats will offer.
The question is Connolly. 2014 is the last year of his deal and he’ll carry a $4 million cap hit. Like Wendell, he had a bumpy start but has settled in and stayed heathy. Just not sure there’s a viable plan B unless they really want to try to make an upgrade in free agency.
Solder/Mankins/Vollmer/Cannon are entrenched. If they re-sign Wendell, keep Connolly they should still target interior linemen in the draft. Really I wouldn’t rule it out in the first round if the talent is there.
