When the Patriots lined up against a defense showing a “closed”, single-high defense this season they passed the ball 57% of the time and gained 7.7 yards per attempt with Tom Brady throwing a league-best 20 touchdowns with only two interceptions. His favorite targets against the single high look were Brandon LaFell (65 targets), Julian Edelman (61) with Rob Gronkowski only third by number of targets, though he did contribute eight touchdowns.

Lost and Found: Seeking a Super Bowl Weakness «

Enjoyed this read from Barnwell as it’s what we all invariably do when we initially look at a matchup. “Who beat them and how” and “Can we do it”. Of course, each game is its own particular monster, so the carryover isn’t always transferable, but it’s fun to play the game nonetheless.

We play a lot more man to man over in New England. They play a lot of cover three in Seattle. [Sherman] plays to his leverage, knowing where help is coming from. He is a cerebral football player and so is Revis. Revis, he just has a nice balance about his game. It never seems like he takes a false step left or right. His game is pretty smooth and polished. It seems like he isn’€™t running as hard as the guy he is covering. The guy he is covering always seems like he is sprinting and (Revis) kind of has a jog about his game.

Why Tom Brady should be poised for Super Sunday | FOX Sports

The power of positive posting. Brady’s in a good place headed into this one, if you don’t count all the distractions, though I don’t think those will matter once kickoff comes.

I remember reading your article early 2013 about Patriots should let Welker walk… Could you re-link the article? I like your thoughts then and I believe they are still relevant to the team going forward. It’s just a lot of the stuff that happened since were so unexpected (Hernandez, Gronk, Injuries) that has made those thoughts difficult to realize.. I still believe that’s a good blueprint to have going forward. Props to you for the good Pats work and twit feed. Thanks.

Here it is. I still think it was the right call. Doesn’t look great right now, but this was a decision made with the next four seasons in mind, not just the start of the 2013 season. And you’re right, there have been so many other problems to deal with this season, keeping Welker was […]
