We were willing to reveal identities of everyone in Tom’s phone. Everybody. We took the extra step to provide the Commissioner with all of Tom’s personal cell phone billing records – the billing records show all outgoing and incoming phone calls and texts. We took the further step to advise the Commissioner we were willing to disclose the identity of every single person in the billing record Tom communicated with. We took the additional step of speaking to general counsel at AT&T to determine if the company could somehow retrieve all those text message and he wrote letter back saying that’s not possible, and we gave that letter to the commissioner as well. The commissioner tried to imply Tom was hiding something; does this seem like the behavior of someone trying to hide something?

I want to be crystal clear. I told Mr. Brady and his agents, I was willing not to take possession of the phone. I said, “I don’t want to see any private information.” I said, “Keep the phone. You and the agent, Mr. Yee, you can look at the phone. You give me documents that are responsive to this investigation and I will take your word that you have given me what’s responsive.”

Transcript of Ted Wells conference call | The Blitz | with Jeff Howe & Karen Guregian | Boston Herald

This little tidbit from Ted Wells conference call with the media on May 12th has been under the radar the last 24 hours, but certainly seems pertinent now. Brady “destroying” his phone before meeting Wells was the only revelation to come out of the appeal, yet here’s Wells saying he didn’t even need the phone? Why didn’t we hear about Brady destroying his phone in the Wells Report?

Wells made it “crystal clear” he doesn’t require Brady phone, but now Brady is buried for destroying it?

Robert Kraft Press Conference Transcript

Robert Kraft Press Conference Transcript

Having a hard time pulling just one quote from this whole thing, so if you didn’t hear it live you definitely have to go read it. Patriots fans felt abandoned by Mr. Kraft when he accepted the team punishment, but personally I understood why he did it. Unfortunately I think he realized too late what we all knew, that this was never solely about deflated footballs, this was about a chance to pin something on the Patriots.

I’ve seen plenty of tweets out there from national pundits not understanding how it’s good for the NFL to take down one of their biggest players. But there are plenty of people inside the NFL office, Mike Kensil being a prime example, who would love nothing more than to see the Patriots knocked down a peg.

The false leaks that Mr. Kraft brought up today are another example that there are forces driving this story with an anti-Patriots agenda.

The media landscape, filled with former playes and executives who were handed defeat at the hands of Brady and Belichick are only too happy to cast a critical eye solely on the Patriots. They take the bait at every turn and yesterday’s “destroyed his phone” is a prime example.

How many phones have you “destroyed” in your life? Words are powerful and “destroyed” is a loaded word and it framed the final piece of circumstantial evidence meant to bury the Pats.

So now it’s on. Kraft is back in our corner and that’s a powerful force to have because he carries weight where it counts most – with the other owners. I don’t know how it will play out, but it would appear this might be a defining moment for the National Football League. And all over some footballs that may or may not have been deflated.

I was wondering if you could go a little more in depth about belichick stopping what opponents do best. Do you think he goes by players or situations. Why does when he go against a team he limits what he wants (to a degree) work compared to other teams.

I think it’s both players and situations. For example, I think he asks his defensive ends to be far more conservative against mobile QBs than most teams are. BB seems far more willing to challenge a quarterback to beat him with his arm than most coaches do. The result that we’ve often seen is that […]
