Forbes: ESPN’s Uncomfortable, Unnerving Relationship With The NFL

Forbes: ESPN’s Uncomfortable, Unnerving Relationship With The NFL

Nothing we haven’t been following since 11 of 12 here, but it’s put into a nice package, pointing out where the allegiances lie. I’d be surprised if you see any insider interviews or information coming from the Patriots via ESPN any time soon, that’s for sure.

I always knew Mike was going to be a coach just because of the way he carried himself on the field. Being able to play with him and see him now as a coach, he’s the same guy. I tell guys all the time, if Vrabel gets in shape right now he probably could still play football. That’s the one guy out of all the guys I played with I think hands down he was the best all-around teammate that I ever had: Mike Vrabel. And that says a lot because I played with some great, great guys. A lot of guys are my friends. But all around from offense, defense, special teams, player, coach on the field – you name it, a friend, a mentor, everything you can name, that was Mike Vrabel. He’s still like that to this day.

With all this defensive end depth I’m very curious how things play out for Nink this year.

pottsisstarksheart:

New England at New Orleans, preseason week 2

I was glad to see us compete all the way through for 60 minutes and that will go a long way. We, obviously, need to play better for 60 minutes and not think that we are going to pull every game back from behind. We need to play from ahead and get ahead. That’s two weeks in a row where we’ve been totally outcoached and outplayed in the first quarter so we’ll see if we can do better than that.

2007 New England Patriots: The Pursuit of Perfection [HD] – YouTube

Why not? I know I’m in the minority but the 16-0 banner doesn’t really bother me. 2007 was an epic trip and yes it came to crash landing at the end, but no one’s gone 16-0 except that team and I think it counts for something. Are the Super Bowl champs the only team that ever gets to really celebrate? If that’s true then why hang division or conference title banners (or runner up banners, Colts)? Even though the Patriots didn’t win every Super Bowl of the last 15 years, there’s tons of awesome sprinkled throughout that entire run and 16-0 was my favorite non-Lombardi winning of all them.

Updated New England Patriots Depth Chart & 53-Man Roster Prediction

August 25, 2015 by Mike Dussault

Quite a bit of shifting going on yesterday, with the addition of Reggie Wayne and DJ Lynch, and both Brandon Gibson and Brian Tyms heading to IR. Here’s how I think the current depth chart looks.

And here’s where I’m at on my 53-man roster. Some hard decisions to make especially among the unproven depth guys.

QB (2) T.Brady, J.Garoppolo: Still believe Brady doesn’t miss a game.

RB (5) J.Gray, B.Bolden, J.White, T.Cadet, J.Develin: Loved what I saw out of Lewis but I can’t keep 7 RBs and I don’t see any of this group getting cut without it being a shock. Blount has roster exemption for Week One.

WR (6) J.Edelman, B.LaFell, D.Amendola, R.Wayne, A.Dobson, M.Slater: Neither Wayne nor Dobson play special teams, so that difference will have to be made up at linebacker/defensive back.

TE (3) R.Gronkowski, S.Chandler, M.Hoomanawanui: Would love Chandler to get healthy this week to get some legit game action with Brady.

OL (9) B.Stork, T.Jackson, S.Mason, R.Wendell, J.Kline, M.Cannon, N.Solder, S.Vollmer, C.Fleming: Wouldn’t be surprised to see Kline start getting some legit guard snaps, especially if Wendell continues on PUP. Andrews is a good practice squad candidate.

DE (5) R.Ninkovich, C.Jones, J.Sheard, T.Flowers, G.Grissom: very promising group with experience, youth and tons of potential.

DT (5) D.Easley, M.Brown, S.Siliga, A.Branch, Z.Moore: Hard cuts on Antonio Johnson and Casey Walker. Leaning Zack Moore as the last guy here, but Johnson/Walker could beat him out.

LB(5) J.Mayo, J.Freeny, J.Collins, D.Hightower, D.Fleming: James Morris a tough cut, but could be a PS guy. Plus Fletcher is PUP’d so there’s some depth  insurance there.

CB (4) M.Butler, T.Brown, M.McClain, L.Ryan: Roberts injury hurts, still not feeling Bradley Fletcher even with the numbers thinned.

S (6) P.Chung, J.Richards, N.Ebner, D.McCourty, T.Wilson, D.Harmon:  Need more special teams so Tavon is in.

ST (3) S.Gostkowski, R.Allen, J.Cardona: All good.

PUP: Chris Jones, Dane Fletcher

Total players: 53
