Donnie Wahlburg was my personal choice but Chris Evans, Captain America himself, is just fine too!

One of the great things about the way Belichick approaches defense is that his scheme doesn’t require, and doesn’t set out to, shut everything down completely. He’s betting that your offense isn’t good enough to beat him with your 4th or 5th option.

Sometimes, that’s gotten him into trouble. There are a couple of memorable (some in Boston would call them lucky) catches in the pair of Super Bowl losses to the Giants that ultimately ended up costing the Patriots the game, but Belichick’s win percentage speaks for itself. More often than not, his well-coached defense is going to take away the things you do best, and leave you with a few things that you’re either not very good at, or just haven’t practiced that much. Now you have to go out on the field and beat him.

Breaking down Bill Belichick’s Super Bowl defense, Alex Kirby (via wordsspokenofwise)

So very true. Think of some of the names who had big games against the Pats in recent memory – David Tyree, Mario Manningham, Chris Matthews. All guys who came essentially out of nowhere in those games to make an impact. Direct effect of BB’s style.

Reggie Wayne: The Right Fit at the Right Time for New England Patriots

New one up on Athlon on why I like the Reggie Wayne signing. No one expects him to be old Reggie Wayne, but a savvy veteran who knows where to be will be a perfect 4th WR.

Forbes: ESPN’s Uncomfortable, Unnerving Relationship With The NFL

Nothing we haven’t been following since 11 of 12 here, but it’s put into a nice package, pointing out where the allegiances lie. I’d be surprised if you see any insider interviews or information coming from the Patriots via ESPN any time soon, that’s for sure.

I always knew Mike was going to be a coach just because of the way he carried himself on the field. Being able to play with him and see him now as a coach, he’s the same guy. I tell guys all the time, if Vrabel gets in shape right now he probably could still play football. That’s the one guy out of all the guys I played with I think hands down he was the best all-around teammate that I ever had: Mike Vrabel. And that says a lot because I played with some great, great guys. A lot of guys are my friends. But all around from offense, defense, special teams, player, coach on the field – you name it, a friend, a mentor, everything you can name, that was Mike Vrabel. He’s still like that to this day.

Mike, you take your family on a nice vacation and as you head to dinner you forget your cell phone in your hotel room so you head to the elevator to go back to your room to get it. Suddenly, the Hoodie himself walks in. He notices you’re wearing some Patriots gear, and in a strange turn of events he asks you, “If you could go back to any time in my entire stint here in New England and change a decision I made, what would it be and why?” Have a great weekend, Mike! Almost back to real football!

Clearly there is only one choice: DON’T WEAR THE RED HOODIE FOR SUPER BOWL 42!!!!!!!!!!!!!
