Not sure I like the new facemask/helmet for TB12. Let’s hope he’s just giving it a whirl in OTAs and will back to the usual come training camp. We fear change…

Patriots OTAs
Wes Welker at 2010 OTAs five months after an ACL tear.

Amazing. Even when Welker was running around at his kids camp last week I was still skeptical that he’d be back before the bye week. My prediction was 10/31 vs. the Vikings. Now I’m thinking it might be sooner. I still don’t think he’s ready for game one but you never know. For now we’ll back our prediction up to the game on 10/17 vs. the Ravens. What an appropriate game to come back, since things might’ve been a little different had we had him for the playoff disaster. Remember the Pats outscored the Ravens quarters 2-4. It was just that horrific start that killed us.

Long way to go for Shawn Crable. When the top offense and top defense were on separate fields, it was notable that third-year outside linebacker Shawn Crable was running with the scout defense. One could view that as a sign that he has a long way to go to earn a roster spot.

Welker on Field & In Uniform for OTAs!

This is nothing short of amazing. It will six months ago tomorrow that Welker tore both his ACL and MCL against Houston. To already be back on the field has to be some sort of medical record. We will post pictures as soon as they are made available later today. WOWOWOWOWOWOW!

Sebastian Vollmer, New England Patriots, OT: I first met Vollmer when he played in the NFL world junior championships as a member of the German team. He was just a big kid then, trying to learn an American game. He has come a long way in a short time, starting eight games as a rookie last seaosn and protecting Tom Brady’s blindside. He could be on the verge of a Michael Roos-type career.

Gronk Talks About Learning the Pats Playbook

I think it’s pretty safe to say that Gronk’s agents have programmed him to respond “it’s all in the past” whenever he’s asked about his back injury. It’s kinda comical if you watch enough interviews with him over the past few months.

Patriots defensive snaps update – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Patriots defensive snaps update – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston Good stuff here, and if there’s one area to focus on it’s the depth behind Wilfork. I’d put that as a number one area to improve in the off-season at this premature date.
