Welker on the radio, he’strying to get into a “training mode” not “rehab mode”. We’re 2 weeks from finding out if he’s PUP’d or not. We’re still betting on PUP’d.

PatsFans’ Ian Logue Breaks Down Jermaine Cunningham

Ian does a fantastic job of putting together just about everything that has been reported on the young Patriots OLB since he was drafted. There isn’t a player that will be followed more closely than Cunningham since he’s playing a position where the Pats need help.

Lombardi on the Patriots

July 14, 2010 by Mike Dussault

Below is what Mike Lombardi had to say about the Pats. He shoots down the “window of opportunity” theory as well.

New England Patriots: I laugh when people say the Patriots’ window is closing fast as Tom Brady gets older. Are you kidding me? The Patriots are a team in transition, but their window is not closing. In fact, it is getting wider as they keep surrounding Brady with young talent. However, the Patriots need their young players to get tougher – they need their team to get tougher. Last season, New England allowed its opponents to score every time they were first-and-goal inside the 5-yard line – every time. Last year, the Patriots had chances to win games in the final drive, but turned the ball over and finished 1-3 in games decided by three points or fewer. Their window is still open, but the youngsters better start to produce.

OK I know there’s been a little too much Jets crap on here lately, but it’s hard to avoid when they’re yet again the toast of the offseason. Words cannot express how excited I am to see Hard Knocks this year. In fact I might even say I’m more excited than if the Patriots were on there. Why? Because I like keeping a certain mystique about the Pats, and you just know there’s going to be a plethora of talking points after the first five minutes of episode one with Rex Ryan running his yap.

Thanks to Rex for putting some sizzle back into the Patriots-Jets rivalry. I cannot wait for the season, especially week 2.

Hey look, some Jets are working out on the West Coast too and they even had a 5th grader make them some t-shirts. Nice touch with the Super Bowl 45s on the sleeves, glad they’re reminding themselves its get to the big dance or bust this season.

Yahoo Ranks NFL Linebacker Squads (Pats #22)

No mention of Brandon Spikes or Tyrone McKenzie, nor Derrick Burgess who was playing OLB in mini-camp. Yet another big media Pats FAIL.

What do you think about the Cowboys giving the rest of the NFL a blueprint to slow down the Patriots’ offense?

I never buy that inevitable talk every time some team sticks with the Pats offense for a (usually short) period of time. I do like how the Cowboys had a new wrinkle to throw at the Pats but the problem is that they didn’t have a counter punch to that. Just about any team with […]
