We’d always try to disguise our coverages. We felt like he couldn’t figure them out. So we’d overload coverage to the left side, and then after the snap, we’d switch it, and he’d have problems with that,” Bruschi says. “We’d disguise things and you could see the confusion on his face. I remember we’d be on the bus, talking to ourselves, saying ‘I still don’t think he’s figured it out yet.’ So one question is whether he’s matured with that.

A Patriots Fans’ Review of Jets Hard Knocks Episode 5: Revis and Woodhead Do America

A Patriots Fans’ Review of Jets Hard Knocks Episode 5: Revis and Woodhead Do America

Sadly Hard Knocks with the New York Jets is over. No more will we get an inside look at what has to be the most entertaining NFL franchise west of Oakland.

If there was a way to keep the series going through the season I think we’d have a mega-hit on our hands. Especially if things go the way I think they’re going to go, which is down. We had laughter, cussing, big hits and more laughter and cussing.

Before the series we all knew the Jets talked a big game, but after seeing the inner workings of the team it’s clear that there are a lot of major question marks, any number of which could mean disaster this season. Nowhere is this more true than with a suspect offense and a frightening lack of depth in key areas.

Our episode five and series wrap-up after the jump…

This morning was an exercise in the power of modern media when Tom Brady got into a car accident. My own personal story was that I got up at 5am (west coast) to take a leak and heard my phone ding with a text message. It was from my sister and read:

Tom Brady was in an accident last night. They say he’s hurt.

I foolishly tried to go back to bed, but of course my mind was racing. First my thoughts turned to Brian Hoyer and how happy I was that he looked pretty good in the preseason. Light years better than Matt Cassel did in the 2008 preseason.

I quickly got back up and turned on the computer. A quick scan of PatsFans.com quickly brought me up to speed. But not before seeing every wrong turn the story made before the truth came out. First Brady was driving a Bentley, later we found out it was really an Audi. First they used the jaws of life to get him out, later we found out that was really on the other car.

Now that we know Brady is okay and everyone is making jokes about it (like it was Bernard Pollard driving the mini-van) we can all relax. Hopefully the man in the mini-van that ran the red light is okay.

But it was an interesting exercise in how news breaks now, and how things like twitter and texting can quickly lead to false reports.

Hard to believe it was two years ago today that the fun of the 2008 season was reduced by 75%. I knew you’d be back when you’re ACL was good, Tom!

Top 3 improvements of the Patriots off-season

It’s hard to believe that training camp for the 2012 season opens in just six weeks. I haven’t even taken a voluntary look at any of the Super Bowl yet! Through free agency, the draft and now OTA’s the Patriots have made some positive moves that should pay dividends in the fall and winter. As […]
