This was the pregame video that aired before the 2006 AFCDG. With this setup it really makes the Patriots upset seem even bigger, doesn’t it? Plus this gets me fired up for another round with those Chargers.

I would say the big thing about San Diego’s offense is their deep balls. He’s a very good deep ball thrower and they run… I mean, every play, really, is a deep pass. Not that they throw them all down there, but they have them going. So if you don’t have him defended well, he hits those deep balls and of course that opens up everything else. It opens up the intermediate passing game. It helps the running game and all that. So their offense is really built around getting the ball down the field. And they’ve got good receivers and tight ends and even in [Darren] Sproles’ case, a back that can get down the field and a quarterback that is very accurate throwing it, as we talked about there. They’re the best team in the league on third-and-long. Third-and-10 to them is nothing. Third-and-10, Third-and-three, they don’t care. They’re fine with that and they hit a lot of them. It’s really their deep passing game, and I would say that extends on all downs: first down, second down, third down, play action, drop back, three receivers, two receivers. Put out there whoever you want, they’re looking to throw it deep and if you take that away, then they’ll come to the underneath stuff where you don’t have very many guys and they have some good receivers like [Antonio] Gates and Sproles and [Randy] McMichael and those guys. That’s kind of what their passing game [is]. Other than some situational plays, that’s kind of the essence of it.

Usually Saturday is a day for the players to rest and get focused on what they have to do on Sunday. I think it’s somewhat the same for the fans, so here’s a nice little Deion Branch highlight film to remind you just how much fun he is to watch (In case you didn’t already remember that last week against the Ravens).

Did you know that Dane Fletcher spits hot fire?

I love Fletcher’s size and speed. I was impressed by his reaction time in preseason, he seemed to read pass quickly and drop inton coverage without a “false step”. It was pretty clear to me that he was a little more instinctive in that way than Tyrone McKenzie. My only question now is where are we going to see him get after the QB, because clearly he has pass rush skills.

Patriots Schwag Hunt: Gothic, Ripped Pats T-Shirt

This t-shirt is brand spanking new from the Patriots Proshop and I"m not really sure what to make of it. Who designs this stuff? Honestly I think they should give me a design team and I’d come up with stuff that would fly off the shelves.

Instead of weird, cartoony gothic stuff like this why not go cocky, ironic, funny, proud? It’s like whoever wears this t-shirt is trying to scare people.

I remember one t-shirt the proshop had a while back that just had three Lombardi Trophies with the Patriots logo and “It is what it is” below it. That’s what I’m talking about! More of that please!

New England Patriots Game Plan: San Diego Chargers

New England Patriots Game Plan: San Diego Chargers

The humane thing to do when an animal is suffering is to put it out of it’s misery. To finish it off Old Yeller-style with a shotgun out behind the shed. The San Diego Chargersare wounded animals right now, and it’s up to the Patriotsto send them back to the middle of the NFL pack. However, wounded animals are often most dangerous.

Statistically the Chargers look formidable, and they’re a tough team at home (unless it’s the playoffs). New England will certainly have their work cut out for them.

The Pats gameplan for the Chargers after the jump…

KT, Aaron and Josh, young receivers that we have have done the same thing,” he continued. “They’ve all come out, they’ve improved through the coaching, listened to the veteran players that have been around them, and that’s a real credit to them. They’re understanding and hopefully they continue to go on to be really great […]
