Dan Koppen has some competition for sexiest red headed Patriot as Shayne Graham comes aboard while Stephen Gostkowski nurses his quad back to health. At least his initials are SG too.

Who’s got $50 for a pom hat? Yikes, glad I got mine from the pro shop last year. I should’ve bought a couple of them.

In case you missed it, here’s the Middle School Trick Play that everyone is all fired up about. Rumor has it Eric Mangini and Brian Daboll have already been studying the film of this play to be used with Josh Cribbs.

Patriots 28th in Average Time of Possession

November 9, 2010 by Mike Dussault

While most of the offensive statistics for this years Pats are solid (2nd in points, 5th in 3rd down conversions, 10th in red zone TDs) there is one stat that they aren’t so good in and it tells a lot.

They are currently 28th in time of possession, and their average time of possession in the last three games is low enough to put them 31st with only the lowly Cowboys coming in worse.

Put it this way, in the last three games the Giants (the number one ranked team) has had the ball, on average, thirteen and a half minutes more than the Patriots. That is staggering.

This is a reflection of two things, the defense not being able to get off the field on 3rd down (they’re ranked 32nd in the NFL) and the offense being inconsistent. It seems that there are two types of Patriots offensive possessions this year: 3 and outs, or quick and efficient drives that go right down the field and end in touchdowns.

The Patriots must find some consistency. This is an area where more sustained drives will help the defense, who will in turn be more rested and better adjusted to get off the field themselves.

Patriots History Tuesday: 2001 AFC Championship Game

Always fun to kick off a new week with a history lesson that involves this week’s opponent. As I’ve been saying the Patriots know HOW to beat the Steelers. Just look at every meaningful game of the last decade, usually the Pats won, and won big. The Steelers have always done what they do and if the Patriots can execute they actually can win despite that turd they put forth last weekend.

This game was one of the closer ones of all the last decades. Who can forget Drew Bledsoe coming in and throwing a touchdown. That was one of the the first (of many) truly poetic events that have happened since this first Super Bowl run.

Tape Never Lies: Difficulties defending Patriots’ Gronk & Hernando

Tape Never Lies: Difficulties defending Patriots’ Gronk & Hernando Another great article from Alen Dumonjic about just how effective Gronk and Hernando are. The truth is that while it hurts to lose Hernando for however long, losing Gronk would have a far greater effect on the offense. He’s really the hub of what they do, […]
