Guess who’s coming on the PatsPropaganda & Frenz Podcast…

We’re incredibly excited to announce that none other than Patriots blogging overlord Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com will be joining our podcast on Sunday May 8th at 1pm EST.

Erik Frenz went above and beyond the call of podcast duty to ask Mike if he’d join us, and to our surprise Reiss was totally down for it. If the Patriots gave out helmet stickers for great plays I would definitely be sending one to Frenz.

Reiss has been following the Pats as a professional media member since the late 90’s, and has a stellar journalistic reputation for his balanced views and insightful commentary. I’ve been a huge fan of his work and consider him one of the biggest inspirations for this blog so we’re very, very excited to get to talk to him about the Pats.

Between Fitzy this Saturday and Reiss next Sunday our little podcast is blowing up! We hope everyone will tune in to hear some pure Patriots passion!!

Patriots talk to Browns about 6th overall pick….big whoop.

And we’re off! First rumor of the day is that the Pats spoke with the Browns about the 6th overall pick, sending all those Patriots fans in Robert Quinn’s corner into a frenzy.

It’s important not to read too much into this though. The fact is that going into the draft you need to know your ceiling. You need to know how high you can get, and what it’s going to cost you. So just because they’re talking to the Browns doesn’t mean they’re ready to pull the trigger.

There still would be a lot of moving parts to this, and who knows for sure who’d they even target. It could be Marcel Dareus for all we know.

So let’s all relax, it’s going to be a long weekend.

Happy First Anniversary to PatsPropaganda.com!

Yes the draft is finally here but it’s also the anniversary of our little Pats blog. Hard to believe it’s already been a year since PatsPropaganda.com went live. The evolution of the blog began with my first ever post on December 13th, 2007 at NewEnglandPatriotsNews.com.

I wrote on that blog for two and a half years along with side gigs with Bleacher Report, BostonSportz, and PatsPulpit, eventually leading me to start the PatsPropaganda twitter handle on April 17th, 2009. My sister then bought the PatsPropaganda.com domain a year later as a birthday present, some help starting out on Tumblr, and on April 28th, 2010 we went live.

It’s been an amazing year for the blog. We won TruFan.com/CSNNE’s Best Patriots Blog Award, and served as a Patriots panelist for the Boston Sports Then & Now Blogapalooza, but what has been most exciting is hearing from Patriots fans from around the world. Connecting with my readers and fellow bloggers has established an entire network of new friends and colleagues that I hope only continues to grow.

I’d like to give some special shout outs my podcast partner Erik Frenz, BST&N’s Joe Gill and Nick Stevens, aka the mastermind behind Fitzy. You guys have been a huge part of this past year and I thank you for your great work and support that inspires me to keep up.

A special thanks has to go to my sister Sarah, without whom I’d still be toiling on an anonymous blog that nobody could find. And I can’t just thank one sister, so thanks to Mary as well for being my Patriots partner in crime!

Finally, a huge thanks to everyone who stops by this space and reads what I have to say on all things Pats-related. Your supportive comments and tweets are a huge inspiration for me to keep on keeping on!

We have even more fun stuff in the works to go with our latest additions of the PatsPropaganda & Frenz Podcast, and our ever-growing Youtube channel dedicated to putting all the best Pats videos in one easy, accessible place. We’re excited to see where it all leads, but we’re definitely having a ton of fun while doing it.

So a final thanks to everyone. At this moment no one knows where the NFL is headed but no matter what we’ll be there blogging Pats.

He looks just like I feel. It’s Draft Day, WOOT WOOT!

Every single year, the football press manages to convince themselves that this year is different. That this is the year The Hooded One throws away the book he’s spent 35 years writing and goes after and “elite pass rush” specialist who can “get after the quarterback” and “apply pressure.” And every year I remind the world that in his 11 Patriots drafts and 11 free agency periods, he’s never once brought in a guy that fits that description. I run around like the scientist from a Syfy Original Movie, showing everyone the data, laying out my case, telling them to heed my warning. But they still… won’t… listen. Belichick will no doubt look for a guy who can (altogether now) apply pressure. But if he’s not a 5-tooler like McGinest or Mike Vrabel or Jermaine Cunningham, he won’t bother. He’d no sooner bring a 5-11 James Harrison-type and fit him into this defense than he’d outfit a pickup with three truck tires and one wheel off a Mini Cooper.
