Pats bit:
NE, PIT & HOU: If it is a three-way tie between these teams at 13-3, then Pittsburgh is kicked out on conference record. The New England-Houston tiebreaker would then go down to Strength of Victory, which right now favors New England slightly (54 wins by teams NE beat vs. 52 for HOU to date). If NE wins that tiebreaker, the order would be #1 NE, #2 HOU, and #3 PIT.
On the other hand, if Houston were to overtake New England on Strength of Victory, the order would be #1 HOU, #2 PIT, #3 NE.
Jets bit:
The New York Jets have the lead now at 8-5, but also probably have the worst tiebreaker scenarios on balance. They would probably be in trouble at 9-7, and could have issues at 10-6 if others can get there. They lose head to head tiebreakers against Denver or Oakland. They are vulnerable to losing three-team tiebreakers on Strength of Victory to San Diego or Oakland, or even Tennessee depending on how things play out. Tennessee could have a better conference record. The tiebreaker with Cincinnati is up in the air if the Bengals can beat the Ravens in the final week.
2006 Flashback: Broncos 17, Patriots 7
2006 Flashback: Broncos 17, Patriots 7
After Tom Brady’s first career playoff loss in January of 2006, the Patriots welcomed the Broncos to Foxboro that September in what many of us surely pegged as a revenge game.
This was a disappointing loss but looking back at the box score is fascinating, especially when you consider this Patriots team went to the AFC Championship.
They clearly had no running game, and their two leading receivers in the game were Doug Gabriel and Laurence Maroney. Brady had to throw the ball 55 times.
The last time we were in Denver Josh McDaniels was peaking as the Broncos head coach. It was all down hill after this for Josh.
