This year’s patches really fit well on the Pats jerseys since it’s silver. Whether the sight of this logo will give me joyous memories or nausea will be determined in 12 days. But I love how it looks now.

If you love the NFL enough to plunk down some jack for a jersey, replica or official, you probably should wait three months. In April 2012, Nike takes over the apparel contract from Reebok. And on the day that the switch was announced in October 2010, Nike Brand president Charlie Denson told Darren Rovell of CNBC that significant adjustments are coming. “We plan on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we’ve done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available,” Denson said. “The NFL program hasn’t had the same type of advancement in recent years.

I was a little nervous when Mr. Kraft revealed Bledsoe would be the one to present the AFC Championship Lamar Hunt Trophy. Not because they chose Bledsoe (as many tweeps asked), but it was akin to the Eagles releasing their Super Bowl parade route before Super Bowl 39. In reality it’s of course about logistics, but let’s keep stuff like that under wraps until after the game.

NFL.com news: Gritty win shows why New England is NFL’s gold standard

What’s so impressive about this Patriots team is that nobody cares about legacies and all that stuff. At least not right now. What’s been so remarkable about Belichick and Brady is they don’t marinate in the past. Every day, every play is a new challenge, and this relentless focus on the task at hand is why this Patriots team is so for real. Case in point: New England’s go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Facing a 20-16 deficit, the Patriots lined up on a second-and-goal from the 1. Brady, who’ll never be confused with Cam Newton running the football, trucked off left tackle for an apparent go-ahead touchdown. But a review of the play showed that Brady’s knee had come down before he crossed the goal line and the score was erased. New England tried running the ball with tailback BenJarvus Green-Ellis on third down, but Baltimore didn’t give an inch. On fourth-and-goal, Brady went over the top, successfully crossed the goal line and was blown up by linebacker Ray Lewis. The hit was huge, but Brady’s score was even bigger.

NFL.com news: Patriots have become the tough-minded team Belichick desired

Belichick now has a tough-minded team that will not quit, and certainly won’t “fade away when they get punched in the mouth,” as Baltimore running back Ricky Williams claimed early last week. This team’s newfound grittiness was on full display against the Ravens, as it won a game without star quarterback Tom Brady playing like a star.

As much as Mayo seems recovered from his injury, torn patellar tendons are notorious for sapping lateral speed etc and I just can’t see Mayo being at a high enough level to be anyone near as good as he use to be not to mention he was also coming off his torn pec last year. What do you think?

I guess we’ll just have to see how he looks once he gets on the field for a game. I think the severity of Mayo’s injury has been somewhat glossed over because he came back so quickly and everyone’s just assuming he’ll be fine. But I think you’re very right that there’s a chance Mayo’s […]
