NFL Events: Combine Player Profiles – Jake Bequette
Bequette has been a strong player for Arkansas, though his productivity can be attributed less to great athletic ability than competitiveness and intelligence. He stands out as a leader and high-energy player for the Razorbacks. He possesses the strength to rush and set the edge and hold his ground in the run game, where he can battle well against bigger linemen and chase hard until the end of the play. He is a solid tackler once around the ball, and pursues plays from the backside with high effort and consistency. His versatility across the line gives him good value for NFL teams, especially those running a 3-4.

As far as Mayock is concerned, New England did itself a huge favor in trading up twice to land impact defensive players Chandler Jones and Dont’a Hightower. “Bill Belichick’s M.O. is to trade down,” Mayock said. “However, I believe Bill knows a thoroughbred when he sees one. He knows that defense is what they lacked in last year. So all of a sudden, they get one of the best linebackers in this draft to go with one of the best pass rushers.”

Patriots CB/S No. 3 Tavon Wilson vs Michigan 2011 (by mathew40)
He plays more outside in this one, with some safety. I still think that his best area is in the slot, covering short routes and blitzing.
He’s serviceable outside, but does get beat for a big pass.
Good tackler.

When you had your workout, what did they try to stress to you in terms of what they might be asking of you? Was it that you’ll be standing up a lot, you’ll be going forward? “It was actually quite a bit of both. They wanted to see, first of all, my pass rushing ability, my ‘get off’ out of my three-point stance, but also quite a bit of two-point work, working out in coverage, covering the spot drops and doing everything with the linebacker aspect as well.”
