On Tavon Wilson. ”He was a pretty good leader for the team when they had injury problems. He moved to safety seemlessly. I think he’s going to be good for the secondary out there, I really do. I think he has a lot of potential. His best football is ahead of him. I always thought his best work would be at corner, but then when I saw him at safety, he takes really good angles. He breaks up a lot of passes, I’d just like to see him finish on the ball a little better. The one thing I really like about him, he’s got really good movement skills. He bends well, he can play a lot of different positions. He’s a very mature kid who could start year one.”

16 (48) New England Patriots (from Oakland): FS Tavon Wilson, Illinois A surprise second-round selection after the safety board was wiped clean, Wilson has corner-safety versatility and the type of intangibles to lead in the secondary. He has overcome a lot of adversity in his life and has the mental and physical toughness desired on the back end. He has outstanding size for the cornerback position, plays the ball well in front of him and could prove to be best as a press cornerback in the Patriots defense.

ProFootballWeekly.com – Pick-by-pick analysis: Round One

21 New England Patriots (from Cincinnati): DE Chandler Jones, Syracuse The Patriots sorely needed to add some pressure players, and Bill Belichick shrewdly dealt up to land a raw condor with rare length and explosive body power. Jones is very tough, humble and hardworking and once he develops his core strength and learns how to harness his raw power, he could emerge as a special talent at any position along the defensive line.

25 (25)  New England Patriots (from Denver): LB Dont’a Hightower, Alabama
After aggressively dealing up to land Chandler Jones, Belichick jumped up two spots again to leapfrog the Texans and find another versatile, mismatch piece with wrecking-ball power. The two-time team captain can pair with Jerod Mayo to fortify the inside of the Patriots’ defense. Having proven capable of rushing off the edge, Hightower can give the Patriots the ability to disguise their front and catch offenses off guard.

Bequette said that he is ready to play whatever position he is asked. “I feel very comfortable at both [end and linebacker],’’ he said. “I guess that’s the stock answer, but it’s true. I played the 4-3 end mostly in college, but I also stood up a little at outside linebacker at the Senior Bowl and the Combine. The more I did it, the more it grew on me. I can’t wait to see what the coaches have in store for me.’’

Channing vs. McClain: Idiot vs. Idiot

There’s been a lot on “SpitGate” today. Did Le’Ron McClain spit in Channing Crowder’s face? I can imagine Crowder probably said something to deserve it if he did. And I can also imagine McClain denying it even if he did it. So who really cares, they’re both idiots. Patriots fans don’t really have alot of […]
