Solder did a good job in relief of injured right tackle Sebastian Vollmer last year. Solder showed good movement and footwork in pass protection, and New England’s elite offense didn’t miss a beat. This year, he’ll be replacing three-time Super Bowl winner Matt Light on the left side, which is more challenging. Light retired this year after 11 seasons. He started in his fifth Super Bowl last season, capping a great career. Now, Solder will be facing the best pass-rushers the NFL has to offer. Brady will be 35 in August and needs to take as few hits as possible. Solder was taken in the first round to eventually replace Light. That time came a little sooner than expected, but Solder has to be ready.

I know we lost the first two to the Giants, but reality check, they still only have one more SB than us. If BB/TFB can get ONE more it will tie the franchises for Lombardis and cement BB/TFB’s respective places in history.

You need a little bit of luck to get to the big one, but it’s not like our defense can get much worse against the pass. With the off-season additions it’s hard not to be excited.

You don’t normally equate the word “dominant” with the tight end position. Gronkowski changed that perception last season. His 17 touchdown catches (an NFL TE record) led the entire league. I asked an opposing defensive coach about trying to slow down Gronk. “It’s helpless; there is nothing you can do.” This coach went on to explain that Gronkowski’s a matchup nightmare for anybody you throw at him. He’s too fast and athletic for linebackers to cover and his size and strength overwhelms cornerbacks and safeties.
