Brady and the Patriots are not letting up. They want to improve. They want to get better. They want to be near perfect by the time the regular season begins. Want proof? On a soggy, rainy day at Gillette Stadium, Patriots coach Bill Belichick practiced outside. The Jets had a similar dilemma on Tuesday and chose to practice inside the fieldhouse.

First of all, there aren’t any unwrittens. … You can’t negotiate a contract, release him, and then re-negotiate another contract with him that was already done in advance. I’m sure the Giants weren’t doing that. So the player is on waivers, he’s on waivers – ours or anybody else’s. I don’t know what unwrittens you’re talking about. … Any time you put a player on waivers, you know there are 31 teams out there that can take him if they want him. We all know that. There is no secrets about that.

Belichick: No unwritten rules – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Just asking Belichick of all people about unwritten rules is pretty hilarious.

Tweets of note from Wednesday’s Patriots OTA

June 13, 2012 by Mike Dussault

Some nuggets from the beat writers I found interesting today…

Cunningham, Bolden, Gronk, Slater, Vollmer, Mankins, Pryor, White and Spikes make up rehabbing group today.

— Christopher Price (@capeleaguer) June 13, 2012

Good day for Branch, Edelman, Hightower, Gaffney, Lloyd. Tough day for Hoyer.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) June 13, 2012

Wilfork left practice early. Not sure why. Welker appeared to tweak right leg at end. Dennard hurt left leg. Moore tweaked right leg.

Tom Coughlin of New York Giants frustrated Jake Ballard claimed by New England Patriots – ESPN Boston

As you can imagine I really feel terrible about hurting the Giants feelings. You’ve beaten us three straight times, two of which in Super Bowls, and you think we’re going to just let your best tight end pass by us in the night? BB don’t play that. Especially since the Pats are one of the few teams who actually compete with a long-term vision.

The Giants might’ve won the first two Super Bowls we’ve faced them, but we’re still just one Lombardi away from epic greatness unseen before by a coach/quarterback combination. We’re not done yet!

The Shutdown Corner Podcast: Greg Cosell on the AFC East Draft | Shutdown Corner – Yahoo! Sports

The Shutdown Corner Podcast: Greg Cosell on the AFC East Draft | Shutdown Corner – Yahoo! Sports

Must Listen Alert! As someone who left Hightower off his Big Board it makes me feel slightly better that Cosell wasn’t quite sure of his Pats fit either. Still, that’s no excuse, he should’ve been on there.

On New England Patriots first-round LB Dont’a Hightower: “Hightower was a guy I struggled with a little – there were some games I watched when I thought, ‘Oh, this guy has a chance to be a good player,’ and there were other games in which I thought he just didn’t move quite that well. If they played a 3-4 and [Brandon] Spikes and Hightower were their inside linebackers … to me, neither guy moves quite well enough. But obviously, Bill Belichick knows more than I do, and what Hightower does give you is versatility. He played almost every linebacker position, and in addition, he put his hand on the ground when they went to their sub-packages, and rushed the quarterback. There’s a versatility element with this kid. He’s had some injuries that he’s coming back from, so maybe he improves.”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWS_PUBzv4Y Rex Ryan curses at a fan after Jets lose. I’ve been sent this multiple times this morning so here it is. What a dejected looking crew coming off the field eh? I have to say I enjoy Rexy firing back like that. He is who he is! (Source: http://www.youtube.com/)
