I think they need to be able to throw the ball down the field. Not just short, intermediate routes. I think they’re going to have to do a better job of taking some shots down the field.
Sensing a theme today? Do the Pats need to stretch the field more? Is that why they lost those four games last year?
No question you want to attack all levels of a defense, but there’s no question the Patriots will be hard to stop no matter how well they throw the ball deep.
Whether he’s the proverbial deep threat or not, I can promise you Brandon Lloyd will provide a new challenge for opposing defenses. You might not need to put help over the top of him, but you better get help on him.

I know Bill Belichick. He’s a built a young team, an aggressive team, a smart team, a team with depth and a team with a great quarterback. So they’re going to be fine. They’re going to be right back in the hunt this year.

The Jets play in a division without an explosive offense. Even New England isn’t explosive. They use a short, intermediate-style passing game. The Jets’ ball-control offense will shorten games and limit the amount of points and yards their defense allows.

I guess you don’t need an explosive offense to dominate then.

Bill Belichick really likes seeing how NFC South teams practice. That’s the conclusion we’ve drawn from a Boston Herald report that the Patriots are talking to the Buccaneers about holding joint practices this summer. We’ve already heard word that Belichick and Saints interim head coach Joe Vitt were talking about getting their crews together and the Patriots had joint sessions with the Saints and Falcons in 2010.

There wasn’t enough time last year to do these joint practices but Belichick loved what he got out of them in 2010 so it makes sense he’d do them again.
