Turn On The Jets 12 Pack: Damn Those Patriots – Turn On The Jets

Good stuff from a Jets perspective. If there’s one thing I’m surprised about with the Jets it’s that they don’t have a clear personnel move this off-season that looks to counter Gronk & Hernandez. Gronk especially. I thought the Jets would be all over some big in the box safety types. Maybe Bell and Landry can do it.

But it seems to me more like the Jets are doing their own thing this off-season rather than reacting to stopping the Patriots. Not so sure that’s a good thing for them.

Gronk chooses Elle on “The Choice” (by MW3ninja46)

In case you missed this last night and you care. Personally I’m Off-Season Gronked out. At least he’s not limping anymore I guess. Three more weeks till football is back and it can’t go fast enough.

Dowling fully participated in all offseason activities, so he’s positioned to be on the field for the first day of training camp July 26. My sense is that the Patriots would like him to seize the right cornerback job, allowing Kyle Arrington to move inside to the slot (where he played well in the Super Bowl when matched up against Victor Cruz). But Dowling will have to earn it. As long as he stays healthy, I could envision that scenario unfolding.

We’ve gone too long without a Ras-I post. Have to agree that this is what the Pats would like, we’ll see how it unfolds.

I don’t think Brady got to an A+ football look until 2003. Still had to downsize the chinstrap and finalize the loose, pulled-down low helmet/facemask look. Plus his face always looks so puffy in ‘01.

What will the Brady-to-Gronk combo do in 2012?

I don’t envy opposing defensive coordinators this year. There will be no simple solution to the well balanced foursome of Gronk, Hernando, Welker and Lloyd. Teams better have a plan for Gronk first and foremost because you can’t manufacture a scheme to stop him, you must get the players who can physically match up on him in the off-season.

What teams do on Gronk should be one of the most interesting X and O factors in 2012, especially in the red zone. It might be hard for Gronk to put up the same amount of touchdowns but whether he’s catching them or someone else is, it still means he’ll be a big problem that needs to be addressed.

New England Patriots Mailbag: Covering every topic – ESPN Boston

New England Patriots Mailbag: Covering every topic – ESPN Boston Nice tidbit in here that Stork got some work at left guard as well as center. I know that he had quite a few penalty laps for bad snaps, but I’m excited to see how Stork develops this preseason. Between him and Easley, they are […]
