Aaron Hernandez on Gronk’s nude cover – “I didn’t look too close at it…I wish I could be swole like that”

— shalise manza young (@shalisemyoung) July 27, 2012

Pats D seemed comfortable with McCourty at one corner and Dowling at the other and Arrington in the slot.

— Christopher Price (@capeleaguer) July 27, 2012

Gallery got first-team reps at right guard. Connolly moved to left guard.

— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) July 27, 2012

Hernandez returned a few punts. Also started with tight ends. Brady was picked off by Carpenter.

Patriots practice concludes. Team didn’t seem as sharp as Thursday. Rookie CB Alfonzo Dennard doesn’t finish practice (possible hamstring).

With so much off-field craziness, could the Summer of Gronk lead to a massive hangover? It takes a unique individual to be able to handle that fast lane: Keeping the focus on the field would be a challenge for almost anyone, let alone a 23-year-old from upstate New York. The sports world is littered with cautionary tales of players who got too much, too soon, lost their focus and simply burned out. But as the 2012 season dawned on Thursday afternoon in Foxboro, it appeared that the big tight end has managed to get his priorities straight. After spending the spring on the shelf because of an ankle injury he suffered in the AFC title game (and the offseason surgery that followed), he was on the field for the first time and looked every bit like the same guy who had a dominant 2011 when he finished with 90 catches for 1,327 yards and 17 touchdown catches. There was no TMZ. No Zubaz. And no Yo Soy Fiesta. Just Gronk in his natural habitat, catching passing and blowing up defenders.

Tough day at the office. Rookie cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was the closest cornerback in coverage on two snaps in which long passes were completed. Overall, the receivers seemed to get the better of the cornerbacks in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 work.

Liked how thick Dennard looked in some pics, but not surprising day one the rookie CB is getting picked on. Bedard thought Ras-I looked icky. Baseline established. Time to improve…

Will Allen lined up exclusively at safety and was also a part of the safety stretching group.

There will be no Cinderella in the AFC this year, as the two best teams in the conference will play for the right to go to the Super Bowl for the first time in a long time. The Patriots hung on to beat the Ravens in overtime last season in Foxboro. It was a game […]
