Rob Ninkovich back at practice for Patriots – Extra Points – Boston.com

Rob Ninkovich back at practice for Patriots – Extra Points – Boston.com

Great news, but I hope Francis is just sick or something. He’s really been coming on at the end of the season and would be useful if the Pats want to use their four defensive end pass rush package.

Defensive end Rob Ninkovich, who was last seen limping off the field at Gillette Stadium after injuring his left hip in the season finale against the Dolphins, was spotted at practice Tuesday. It was Ninkovich’s second time back on the practice field after being spotted last Thursday before the Patriots went on a three-day hiatus during the bye week. According to a tweet posted by Globe colleague Michael Whitmer (@GlobeWhitmer), who attended the media-access portion of practice at the lower fields, Ninkovich looked good and was “running and jumping during agility drills.” Rookie defensive lineman Justin Francis, who recorded a career-high three sacks vs. the Dolphins, was not spotted during the workout, conducted in sweats and shells.

I mean, we know that we didn’t see their best the last time. They know that, and we know that,” Wilfork said Tuesday, speaking to reporters from a podium in the visitors’ locker room. “Come Sunday, we’re expecting their best. It’s all or nothing now from here on out.

Are the Texans ready for Patriots’ play action? | National Football Post

Great breakdown from Matt Bowen including lots of all-22 screenshots. Basically it comes down to discipline for the Texans, something they did not have defensively against the Patriots the first time and Tom Brady made them pay.

There’s no denying the fact that he’s been one of the most dominant receivers in the league over the last five seasons, but considering history and the tendencies of the voters, a signature postseason moment (as well as a chance to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy) would provide Welker with the sort of definitive final line of his resume that could ensure he makes the Hall.

patriots – Why this postseason is so important for Wes Welker – WEEI | Christopher Price

Welker’s post-season numbers: 53 catches for 438 yards and three touchdowns. But let’s throw out the 27 catches for 213 yards in 2007. That leaves 2010, when he sat the opening series due to the feet comments directed toward Rex, and then last season where the missed catch that might’ve sealed another Lombardi still haunts us all. Welker really does need a signature playoff run and given the frustrating post-seasons he’s had, including 2009 where he was hurt against the Texans in Week 17 and missed the rest of the season, this could be one of his last chances to really define his career with a Super Bowl title.

Look closely for frightened turtles | Boston Herald

Good stuff from Matt Chatham and he’s right. The Patriots must jump all over the Texans again to keep them from getting into their comfort zone.  A good start is vital.

What makes this game extra intriguing from an X’s and O’s standpoint is we never saw the so-called “real” Texans vs. the Patriots — much the same sentiment Patriots fans could rightfully contend after their first-half whoopsie against the 49ers.
