New England Patriots: Why Pats Fans Need to Appreciate Kyle Arrington More | Bleacher Report
Good take from James Ermilio on one of the most polarizing players in the Patriots secondary. I agree with what he lays out. It’s nearly impossible to find versatile corners who can stay healthy. Arrington isn’t a shutdown corner, but when used right he’s really solid.
It’s easy to pick on corners because when they make a mistake it likely ends up on the scoreboard. But I think Arrington is a safe investment and should give the Pats some good depth at multiple spots in their secondary.
Although the market for CBs is inflated in a passing league, Arrington might still be had relatively cheaply. At 26, a two-year deal that keeps his cap hit manageable (he had an $825,000 base in 2012) should be doable for both sides. As a fan? All I ask is that you look beyond Arrington’s talk-radio reputation and appreciate him for what he is: a good, versatile, hard-working corner with room to grow.
Is the Championship Window Closed for Tom Brady, New England Patriots?
Is the Championship Window Closed for Tom Brady, New England Patriots?
Obviously it isn’t, but maybe it was for the last few seasons due to the defense?
I think most of my injuries last year were due probably to the fact that I didn’t have an offseason. I had a surgery, I came back and played a game right at six months after an ACL surgery, so I think that rapid recovery kind of hurt everything else,” Mankins said during a volunteer appearance with his wife Kara at the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center. “I made it through the year. It will be nice to actually have an offseason this year.

It’s hard to find someone with a bad word about DeVito — my “NFL Sunday” partner Matt Chatham played with him briefly in New York and raved about his skill level and how well he would mesh with the New England system. His versatility is impressive, as well as his willingness to see the bigger picture. (He took a cut in his base salary before the start of the 2012 season to help the Jets’ try to get some cap relief; he was able to make a chunk of it back by hitting playing-time incentives.)
