It was a great combination because of what we were able to do to benefit from one another,” Moss said. “He’s the wide receiver that you need for your dirty work. I can honestly say, and I’m not telling you something you don’t already know, he does the dirty work up there. He takes the hits across the middle. He takes the short routes and takes them 20, 30, 40 yards for the first down or maybe the touchdown. You can really appreciate the guy’s work.

There has been talk that the Patriots dynasty is over. One guy on sports center even said that it isn’t even considered a dynasty anymore because the Pats haven’t won a Superbowl in so long. What do you think about this? Think the Pats can get back on top? In my honest opinion, they are the best team in the NFL! <3

Funny you should ask, I had this piece on Bleacher Report this week exploring that very question.

The short version is that the dynasty is over because this is a totally different team, but there’s no question they are still one of the best teams in the NFL. If/When they win another Super Bowl or two it would have to be considered separate from the first dynasty with the only connection being Belichick/Brady.

But there’s no question New England is a model franchise, and have continued to win despite near completely new personnel between now and 2004.

To break it down simply, 2001-2007 was the dynasty. 2008 was a transition year, then 2009-present is the second act of the Belichick/Brady reign.

Absolutely, absolutely crazy. But I also think Wes would be crazy leaving the Patriots. What you need is a great coach that says, ‘I recognize your skill set. Let me make sure I ask you to do what you do best.’ That’s what Wes does. That’s what New England does with Wes. That’s why it’s a perfect fit.

Tom Brady loves throwing inside. You’ve got (Rob Gronkowski) who is going to give you vertical size and also get you up the field vertical, but you need that small guy that works in small spaces. Wes is that guy. As long as you have Tom Brady, you better have Wes Welker, or you will see Tom Brady not (playing) like Tom Brady.

What do you want to see done with Wes Welker?

February 15, 2013 by Mike Dussault

WANT? I’d want the Patriots to re-sign him to a three-year team-friendly deal that protects the team as he starts to lose that explosive quickness and the big hits start to catch up with him. There’s no question Welker is a legendary Patriot and I’d love to see him end his career in New England.

But what do I THINK will happen?

THIS. Unfortunately.

Now accepting questions for Friday Patriots Q & A

Let’s hear it Pats fans, the start of the new league year is fast approaching and things are about to get cra cra!

Charles Woodson is going to be available, what do you think? I think although he’s lost a step or two his experience and smarts would help the secondary in a big way. BB could plug him in anywhere and get good play out of him. I think I am the only pats fan in wisconsin, so I’ve seen a lot of packers games lately, haha

February 15, 2013 by Mike Dussault

I don’t really see it with Woodson because I think McCourty is more of the free safety-type that would play his role. Greg Bedard had some commentary about this today on twitter and I agree with him. They really need more of strong safety-type and Tavon Wilson should be given every chance to compete for that starting job. Someone like Dashon Goldson is the best free agent fit in terms of type.

But really I don’t see safety as a prime need that needs to be filled with a prime free agent. Ed Reed would be an interesting option given BB’s love affair with him and his penchant for always kicking the tires on special veterans who may or may not be past their prime.
