Leon Washington Signs with Patriots

The Patriots finally found a potential solution to their kickoff return game today by signing Leon Washington. Washington is coming off a year in Seattle where he didn’t see much time as a runningback but was the primary kick and punt returner. With Welker gone and Julian Edelman still TBD, Washington fills two holes immediately and provides some depth at runningback. Not sure what this means for Danny Woodhead and Jeff Demps.

I’m not at the fact that we let Welker walk i’m mad at the fact that we’re not signing anyone. Do you think this will change?

Of course it will. It’s only Day 3. Really so far the only free agent I really thought was a good fit that’s off the market already is Desmond Bryant. Ed Reed could land in Houston shortly as well from the sound of it, but this is what the Patriots always do. Let the market settle then stock up on the mid-range free agents.

 I’d bet they hit the cornerback market very shortly and it seems like things are shaping up nicely for them to get Talib back in the mix at an affordable rate. We’ll see, but they have too much cap space to be very inactive for long.
