Yeah, you wanted action in the first round. But the truth is, most drafts don’t have 32 players with first-round grades. And this one was worse than most. I mean, six offensive linemen in the first 11 selections? And Florida State’s E.J. Manuel, who is a bit of a project, the only quarterback taken, with the 16th pick by the Bills? That just tells you what kind of stinker the first round was. So why would you take a player in the first round that is, at best, worth a second-round pick? It doesn’t matter where you pick. I think they might have to trade up to get them, which I wouldn’t rule out. Woods could very well be the next receiver off the board.
I’m all for that, I actually have him in my new mock draft that I just did at Bleacher Report earlier this morning. Q: Did you see Joe Andruzzi’s moment up on stage? NC: I did, yeah. It was neat. We were sitting in there and I think someone asked ‘Are they booing him?’ because we have the feed from our people there. That was a neat moment. I don’t think something like that has happened in the history of the draft. Joe’s a great ambassador for this organization, for this city, in what he’s done. He’s made endless contributions, forget on the football field, but just in terms of his contributions to the organization. I think this was another example of that, with the jersey and the message. I think everybody is still wary and cognizant of what had happened even in light of some of the recent developments over the last few days about the potential impact on New York. It’s a very sensitive sort of subject. Joe’s a great human being. He’s a great ambassador for our program and it was really a cool moment.
