5. Chandler Jones, New England (29.5): Jones lined up at RDE in the Patriots’ 4-3 defense as a rookie last year. Some thought it would take two years for Jones to be strong enough to play well in the NFL, but he demonstrated he was much further along than anticipated.

3. Vince Wilfork, New England (9): Wilfork has built up his stamina over the past few years and now plays in many pass situations that years ago he would have been subbed out for. Wilfork has outstanding range along the line of scrimmage and that’s the reason New England plays him at DE more often than he lines up in his original NT position.

[I]t’s going to be interesting to compare and contrast Bills rookie receiver Robert Woods (41st overall) and Patriots rookie receiver Aaron Dobson (59th overall) in the next few years. As Bill Belichick said, the Patriots entered the draft with the intention of addressing the receiver position, and by trading down from 29 to the 50s they took themselves out of the mix for Woods, who reportedly looked sharp in Buffalo’s rookie minicamp.

Woods and Dobson were two of the most common targets by Pats pundits leading up the drafts. They’ll see eachother week 1.

Why do you think teams are so conservative, I don’t mean in terms of blitzing more or throwing on every down downfield, but being more aggressive, taking risks and etc.

Because there are maybe 5 QBs in the NFL that can execute for 60 mins without a mistake. It’s just playing the odds. Sometimes they play great, mistake-free ball and you tip your cap to them. But most of the time the only sure-fire way to lose is giving them big chunks of yardage because […]
