Patriots DVOA rankings over the past 12 seasons.

The offensive side of the board certainly looks pretty green, eh? That will be put to the test this season.

And check out the Patriots run defense this past season after two down seasons. It’s strange because everyone remembers Ray Rice’s first play touchdown run in the 2009 AFC Wild Card. But they were significantly worse in 2010 and 2011, primarily because of runs against their sub-defense.

AFC minicamp storylines – NFL.com

New England Patriots Rob Gronkowski’s forearm is the key story to monitor. If antibiotics successfully eradicate his infection, he could be ready for training camp. If another surgery is required, his status could be in jeopardy for the season opener. … The primary position battle is at wide receiver, where second-rounder Aaron Dobson and fourth-rounder Josh Boyce attempt to make headway against an underwhelming group of veterans such as Donald Jones, Michael Jenkins and Lavelle Hawkins. … Keep an eye on Shane Vereen’s increased role in the backfield.

Kyle Arrington Looks Ahead (by ESPN)

“The icing on the cake was he’s going to come over and babysit a few times,” Arrington, who will now wear 25, said with a laugh.

Agent: DL Love told he’ll be released – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Agent: DL Love told he’ll be released – New England Patriots Blog – ESPN Boston

Wow, one of the biggest storylines to follow this year was how Love and Deaderick were going to do in contract years and now both are no longer with the team. Hopefully Love is okay, it sounds like he still wants to play and thinks he’ll be fine. Guess the Patriots just didn’t want to take the risk.

This certainly puts a spotlight on Tommy Kelly and Armond Armstead, along with the development of Marcus Forston.

2013 Offensive Line Rankings – Matchups – Rotoworld.com

2013 Offensive Line Rankings – Matchups – Rotoworld.com

Pats are ranked number one here, and I love how they’re pointing out Cannon’s potential at guard.

The 49ers are better in run blocking, but New England gets a big enough edge in the pass-blocking phase to put position coach Dante Scarnecchia’s unit over the top. Despite ranking fourth in the league in pass attempts last season, the Patriots allowed the fifth fewest sacks in football. Pass pro is pretty important in an increasingly pass-first NFL. The Pats didn’t lose any key line members and could receive a youthful, physical injection if 2011 fifth-round steal Cannon unseats incumbent right guard Connolly. Cannon is a nimble 6-foot-5 and 360 pounds. Solder and Vollmer were both top-17 offensive tackles in Pro Football Focus’ 2012 ratings, while Wendell was a top-five center. Mankins, 31, is gunning for his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl berth.
