Former Patriots defensive lineman Anthony Pleasant was in attendance, and while he isn’t listed on the franchise masthead in any official capacity, it still wasn’t a surprise to see him on the field in a hands-on capacity. (It was particularly illuminating to see him speaking with rookie defensive end/outside linebacker Michael Buchanan coming off the field at the end of practice. Buchanan had the good sense to be listening to Pleasant — for the duration of their walk, Buchanan’s eyes and ears were open and mouth was closed.)

Some good stuff in here, including:
Armond Armstead has the tools to play anywhere on the defensive line, aside from the nose, but look for him to get some early chances as an interior rusher in nickel packages.
Safety Tavon Wilson got the starting reps with Gregory today.Adrian Wilson was the starter in the previous two sessions.
Love his physicality. Love his passion for the game. He’s a smart kid, a great kid to coach, he’s driven to be very good. I think he’s a really good tackle. [What we’re doing in OTAs with him at guard] is trying to get this guy to make himself as valuable a player as we can, and valuable for us. We have five starters and if we lose a guy we have to have a guy that is capable of getting in there and doing a great job. So we want to train him at guard, and we’re going to give him more tackle work as we go forward in this minicamp. I like what he’s doing. I like how he’s doing it. Every day is a growth day for him. He’s a special kid. He’s a starting quality player. I love the kid. I think he’s a good player.

Lot of talk last week about how Chandler Jones had bulked up, and from the picture it looks like the reports are accurate. This is good news, especially when it comes to holding up inside the trenches.
Not many people are talking about it, but I think there’s a lot of pressure on Jones this year. He came out like gangbusters last season, but tapered off after his injury. The Patriots need him to be an impact player every game, and that’s what he has to prove he can do.

A pair of players stood out with their movement skills and size on Tuesday: wide receiver Kamar Aiken and offensive tackle Kevin Haslam. Aiken has been with the team since last year, and the 6-2, 213 pound wideout has a very good frame and build for the position. He looks fluid, too.
