At a receiver position that has been overhauled, veteran Michael Jenkins has seemed to be one of the more consistent players in offseason camps. He’s usually lining up with the top receiving group, alongside Danny Amendola. Jenkins could be the next in line in terms of players who produce solid results with Tom Brady. “You’ve seen it, obviously, over the years – even as an outsider. Everybody he’s brought in, and the change he’s had at certain positions, everyone still continues to do well. So you just try to do your job, and be there, where you’re supposed to be, because he’s going to get it there.”

Tom Brady – It’s Not About The Shoes Commercial (by CelticsPatriotsman)

It has been interesting to see Brady seem to take the inconsistency of the passing game and some of these spring struggles in stride. Generally known for his fiery personality, even on the practice field, he seems to understand the situation and the process that he’s working through. He said during a radio interview that it might be mid-August before he is comfortable with some of his targets. I don’t think it’s easy for him to see so many balls hit the ground as has been the case this spring, but he appears to be dealing with it as well as could be expected.

Wednesday Patriots mini-camp observations

Second time we’ve heard this about Brady. It’s a good sign, and hopefully his patience pays off.

Danny Amendola reflects on firing up Tom Brady at practice

Danny Amendola reflects on firing up Tom Brady at practice

Good sign, and we need to see more of this from the rooks if they can get healthy and get back on the field.

From across the field, Tom Brady’s short completion to Danny Amendola seemed like a routine play at yesterday’s minicamp practice. Brady took the snap in 11-on-11 work, peered right and quickly buzzed the ball into Amendola’s hands as the slot receiver found a spot in an open zone, gaining a handful of yards. No big deal, it seemed, until Brady got fired up about the job Amendola did to dissect the coverage at the same speed as Brady and run the route to get open. It’s that timing and quick thinking that make receivers successful with Brady, and the quarterback was ecstatic after the play.

Danny Amendola, meanwhile, has established himself atop the Patriots’ receiving group. He’s been as advertised: shifty, quick, dynamic with the ball in space and with enough speed to stress a defense vertically. There’s a clear rapport between he and Tom Brady. The Patriots moved quickly to sign Amendola after it appeared Wes Welker was closing in on a deal with the Broncos, and it’s easy to see Welker-like qualities in Amendola’s game. His underneath route-work is reminiscent of Welker.

Bill Belichick doesn’t care. He doesn’t care that you might need quotes to fill your column or sound bites for you 6 p.m. news telecast. He doesn’t care that you might think he’s being an inconsiderate, arrogant jerk, and he certainly doesn’t care if he might actually be in the process of being one. Bill Belichick cares about one thing: The New England Patriots.

Lines carried the Patriots – The Boston Globe

Lines carried the Patriots – The Boston Globe As always, a great read, and I think one of the advantages the Patriots have this weekend is that they’ll need the same type of physical effort against the Ravens. Granted the game plan will be different, but the style with which it needs to be executed […]
