First preseason game is one month from today. Finally. Can’t wait to stop speculating and reviewing what has really been one of the worst offseasons of recent memory. Loved players departed, got surgery and let us all down.
Nothing like some hard hitting training camp action to put it all behind us and begin the 2013 campaign!

Following Aaron’s arrest, I read a number of different accounts of how things transpired in our organization. Let me be clear, we decided the week prior to Aaron’s arrest that if Aaron was arrested in connection with the Lloyd murder case that we would cut him immediately after,” he said. “The rationale behind that decision was that if any member of the New England Patriots organization is close enough to a murder investigation to actually get arrested – whether it be for obstruction of justice or the crime itself, it is too close to an unthinkable act for that person to be part of this organization going forward.

Best Patriots Dynasty playoff road upset: ‘01 AFCCG in Pittsburgh, ’04 AFCCG in Pittsburgh, or this one, ’06 AFCDG in San Diego?

It’s a significant concern, but the Patriots won games before those tight ends got there,” an AFC personnel executive said. “If Amendola stays healthy, it could be an even exchange with Welker there, and outside receivers have come and gone and it hasn’t affected the quarterback. The key element is Gronk. You get him back in Week 1, you have that presence in the middle of the field for the quarterback. That’s a considerable factor. "But what made the Patriots so hard to defend is they had two players in the middle that were huge matchup problems at tight end, and no one had the components on defense to deal with both of them at once. You just didn’t find defenses with the resources to deal with both of them. They only have one now.

This is why back-to-back division games on a short week to start the season is a little disconcerting for me. If the Pats go 2-0 in the division before the season is a week old, the rest of AFC East can pretty much pack it in.

Nothing tears up the internet faster than an article like this one, and I know it grinds the gears of a lot of Pats fans, but in truth it is now or never (at least until BB/TFB are gone) for the rest of the AFC East.
If the Pats offense still is dominant with an almost-entirely new roster of young weapons, they’re going to be dominant for at least a few more seasons, until Brady starts to fade. So the AFC East better pray every single new receiver the Pats brought in doesn’t work out.
What does bother me about these articles is the lack of mention of the defense. Probably shouldn’t be too surprising given they’ve been average at best the last few years. But it’s important to note that all starters outside Kyle Love return, and the additions of Adrian Wilson and Tommy Kelly should help two big weak spots. The defense’s trajectory should continue upward, especially if Chandler Jones and Dont’a Hightower take significant steps as well.
Unfortunately for the Dolphins they don’t see the Pats until late-October and mid-December. By then they should likely have Gronk back and be finding a stride with their new receivers. It’s all on the Bills and Jets to take advantage of New England’s inexperience with their receiver corps early in the season to set up a real race for the AFC East down the stretch.
Did the NFL Want Tom Brady’s Phone Or Not? Uncovered this detail yesterday and it blew up on twitter, but not enough for any major outlets to pick up on it. Seems very significant to debunking how big a deal Brady’s cellphone was.
