NEPatriotsDraft: 2011 Patriots Roster Prediction 3.0

NEPatriotsDraft: 2011 Patriots Roster Prediction 3.0

Hoodie bless James Christensen from NEPatriotsDraft.com for taking multiple stabs at what the Patriots final 53 man roster might look like. I like what he lays out here, though the only place I might debate is having Wilhite cut for Butler. While Wilhite’s ceiling might be lower it looked to me like he was finally starting to “get it” before getting hurt last year. I still have yet to see any evidence of DBut getting it.

Granted if DBut does put all together with his athleticism he’d be a real solid piece of the secondary, but he looked just as out to lunch in the 16th game of 2010 as he did in the 1st game so I’m not holding my breath at this point.

I think we can all agree that Kyle Arrington is a notch above both of DBut and Wilhite anyway, especially with the way he was used as a blitzer in 2010. In my eyes Arrington looks like an ideal slot corner and should be even more effective playing inside.

Another thing I wanted to mention is this 53-man roster is a good reason why I’m not going to get too overly analytical about all the defensive lineman on the roster just yet. Seems like a monumental waste of time, and as you can see it will be a lot simpler to deal with scheme and projections when you have just 11 DE/OLBs.

I was thinking that the Bengals will probably go at worse 5-3 in their remaining 8 games (tough games @ARI, @DEN, STL and PIT) and have a great chance to end up at 14-2. Denver’s schedule isn’t overly challenging, but they play both the Patriots and Cincy and will probably also end up at 13-3 at worse and have a legit chance at 14-2. I feel like the Denver game is kind of must win if the Patriots want to have a lock on the first seed and end the season 14-2 or better. What are your thoughts?

I think the wild card here is that as the weather gets worse it’s only going to exacerbate Peyton Manning’s inability to drive the ball. So you’ve got to wonder how much of a homefield advantage Denver will really even be for them.  And also, we’re just hitting the halfway point of the season. There […]
