Ian Rapoport reports the Patriots have signed Raiders defensive lineman Tommy Kelly to a two-year deal. Classic Patriots move, signing another Raider castoff to bolster their depth along the defensive line.

The biggest impact of Kelly coming aboard will be his ability to take some of the load off of Vince Wilfork. At 6-foot-6, 325 pounds he adds some good size. He hasn’t missed a game since 2007, and despite just one sack in 2012 he had 7.5 in 2011 and 7 in 2010.

As everyone knows, I’ve been beating the defensive tackle drum all offseason and this is a good step, but I’d still love to see them get another defense tackle in the draft.

But this signing makes it even more likely they could go wide receiver in round one.
